Hi Chris, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help please follow these instructions in the posted order. Thanks.

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

2) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Nasty see info >>> http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=706

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system and set it to clean or fix anything it locates. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

Hi pskelley,

first of all thanks for looking through my logs..

I have done as you said (actually i"ve had the neweset version of ccleaner on my pc already, so i didn't have to dl it).

well, after fixing the mentioned lines in hjt the online trojan scan reported the following problems:

C:\Programme\Serv-U\ServUDaemon.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\KILLAPPS.EXE
I:\Backup D\format und mirc\mirc\bsscript\backup\mirc.exe
I:\Backup D\format und mirc\mirc\bsscript\backup\mirc32.exe
I:\Backup D\format und mirc\mirc\bsscript\mirc.exe
I:\Backup D\format und mirc\mirc\mirc32.exe

The first file is my ftpdaemon, so i really don't want to delete this one ;o)

The second file is a file by creative (i have a creative sb installed on this machine) and what it's doing is closing any open application that might be interferring with any creative installation..

the 4 mirc executables are also listed as backdoors/trojans, which i thought was normal as well, so i did NOT remove any of those..

the CCleaner scan reported a few issues (mainly old file-extentions) so i made a backup of the registry and cleared these items..

after rebooting this is the new hjt log:

Hello Chris, Sounds like good decision making to me. You really only had the one issues: O16 - DPF: {F5192746-22D6-41BD-9D2D-1E75D14FBD3C} - http://download.rfwnad.com/cab/crack.CAB which as I am sure you read came onboard as an ActiveX DPF. The 08 would be part of that. The bad thing about these is that they often pave the way for additional malware. I would take a hard look at how your ActiveX setting are configured. This will be covered in the all clear information I will provide below. There is one item left: R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = that was not removed and it scans as clutter and as such is not a problem . You may use HJT to remove it, remember to exit any spyware programs that by nature stop changes. Sometimes these leftover lines can be hard to remove and have to be removed in Safe Mode. This is your option, leave it alone if you wish. I see no evidence of any malware in the logfile at this time.
As I am sure you are aware you do have a few items running at Startup that you could turn off and start manually if needed, but if all is running well and you have no resource or speed issues, that would be your call. At this point, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=3051
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict2520.html

You will find ActiveX configuration discussed several times in this information. I see Spybot S&D onboard and in case you are not aware, a new version 1.4 was just released. You can download that version here: SpybotS&D 1.4 http://beam.to/spybotsd I found it downloaded right over the old version with no problems.
I will leave this thread open for a few days in the event I can help with anything else, good luck to you and safe surfing.

Cheers…Phil
