Hi, I would be very grateful if someone could please help me. A week ago I upgraded to Broadband and since then there have been reported attempts at connection to other PCs from my new ID. I ran HiJack this which shows some strange executables with a date around the migration. I'm not sure whether to delete them in case they are they are connected with broadband. One of these is called kodymamum.exe and another is ojexamit.exe.

Could someone please check the following log and advise me what I need to do? Many thanks.

Hello mcbrydc, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you are still looking for help please follow these instructions in the order posted.

1) Right you are about ojexamit.exe and kodymamum.exe, we call them random named trojans and the only instance of them is in a French forum (speak no French) but I could see they removed them. Since you do not know them, we will also.

2) I am also concerned about this item: C:\Documents and Settings\mcbrydc.MR-12D17E6E39B7\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\DESKMENU.EXE would you take a look and see if it is valid. Thanks

3) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

4) Open Task Manager and end process on these items, the one may appears twice…kill it twice.
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ojexamit.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\kodymamum.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\kodymamum.exe

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bxvbsv] C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ojexamit.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bavifafi] kodymamum.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [bavifafi] kodymamum.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [bavifafi] kodymamum.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ojexamit.exe >>> file

C:\WINNT\system32\kodymamum.exe >>> file

Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system and set it to clean or fix anything it locates. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

Hi Pskelly

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my request. I very much appreciate it.

I ended the processes and used HiJACK this to delete the 04 entries. I then went into Windows Explorer and deleted the two files ojexamit.exe and kodymamum.exe. I then downloaded and ran Trojan scan, which only found some tracker cookies. I also downloaded and ran CCleaner.

I have since installed Norton Internet security (only had Antivirus before) so the new HiJack log is a little different from the previous.

Deskmenu.exe is OK. It is a program I installed which puts an icon in the system try. When I click on it, it gives a list of what is on the desktop so I can quickly start programs without minimizing windows or going into Start/Programs etc.

The following is the new Hijack log. Hopefully things are OK now.
Once again many thanks for your help

Derek.
