Hi jtr! I'm 'KotaGuy. Welcome to TomCoyote!

If you still require assistance, could you please post a new HijackThis log. It has been a few days since you've posted and something might have changed since then.

Before you do, I'd like you to do some scans. Please do scans at Panda ActiveScan and TrendMicro HouseCall. Let them fix anything they find. Reboot between each scan.

Next, download and install Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D. Visit this page for proper configuration. Run and scan with both, letting them fix whatever they find. Remember to reboot between each scan.

Please move HijackThis to its own directory(Eg: C:\Program Files\HJT\HijackThis.exe). Do not run it from inside the zip or from a Temp directory.

Also, make sure you post the complete log… your last log is missing a line from the header.

Once you got that taken care of.. post the new HijackThis log.

Thanks!
thank you for responding. i will be away from my computer for the next three days so i will get the new scan on by 6/1/05 thanks again jtr

Not sure what happened.. but you posted the latest log with an old version of HijackThis. Make sure you post logs with the newest version(1.99.1) please. Could you post a new, complete, log with the newest version, please? Looks like you had it with your first posted log… can't tell though because the HJT version info was cut out. Thanks!
Sorry about that. Her3e is the Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix.zip

Make sure no files are hidden. To do this:

1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

  • Uncheck Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it
  • Uncheck Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically
Once your log is clean you can re-enable AdWatch.

Go to Add Remove Programs. Uninstall if there:

SurfSideKick

Both Weatherbug and Wild Tangent have shady pasts when it comes to serving up ads and collecting information. Your choice on whether or not to uninstall them. I suggest to do so.

Copy this into notepad or wordpad for reference during the fix.

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and fix:

Boot into Safe Mode. To do this:

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Tap the F8 button as your computer is booting to bring you to the Advanced Options Menu.
3. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.bat. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Post the log from the scan here for me.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Search for and delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3

If you uninstalled WeatherBug and Wild Tangent, you can delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\AWS
C:\Program Files\Wild Tangent

Search for and delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat11.dll
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
ALCXMNTR.EXE

Browse to your C:\Windows\Prefetch folder. Delete all the files in the folder, do not delete the folder itself. Empty your Recycle Bin. Run CCleaner.

Reboot Windows normally and post a new HijackThis log, along with the log from the Ewido scan please.

Search for and delete this file:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\bcoe.exe

Browse to your C:\Windows\Prefetch folder. Delete all the files in the folder, do not delete the folder itself. Empty your Recycle Bin. Run CCleaner.
