hi there!

i noticed this writing on my system folder in the control panel. under "general info", right where my pc info are (os, service pack installed, etc.) there's a nice marijuana leaf and a writing that says "spac", and an email address: [removed]. then, when i press the "more info" button, that line (ERROR…) appears, and then: "Something wonderful has happened,
your computer is alive……"

i'd laugh if i were not so hungry and upset.
as you can see from the log i run avast, sygate, spywareblaster and spywareguard, plus i use regularly ad-aware and spybot. all the programs are ALWAYS updated.

and now this…

PLEASE HELP!

hi there, and thanks for picking up my problem once more. i did as you asked me to, but to no avail. i am quite at my wit's end. i think i have tried every solution under the sun, and yet nothing has come of it. is it just me having this problem? maybe people has the same problem but no-one has looked in the "control panel"? again, here's the measures i've taken - all have failed: avast! deep scan - abd pre-boot scan! checked sygate firewall, just in case - no anomalies run spybot & ad-aware se personal - all with the newest updates, of course run pc-cillin house call again, THANKS for ANY help. right now, i'd try ANYTHING to get rid of that stupid writing + sign! alessandro oh, i tried cwshredder too. again, all for nothing

Lets look at what's in the startup.

click Start> Run> type in Msconfig tap enter key.
look in the Startup. List everything there and point out which ones have a check next to it.

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

To use it:
  • Download CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and install.
  • Open CCleaner.
  • Place a check by everything in the Applications tab.
  • Place a check by Internet Explorer, Windows explorer, and System in the Windows tab.
  • Hit the button that says Run CCleaner
  • Reboot to remove index.dat files.
Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

i would say my computer is doing just fine, thanks.
i mean, the marijuana leaf and that stupid "ERROR: water was detected…" writing is still there. so is the bloke's email address! ([removed])
but as for the pc itself, i can notice no alterations whatsoever in its functions.

the only anomaly happened monday last, when i started it after a two days break (i was away, the pc was shut down, of course): i experienced difficulties in connecting to the internet but cannot remember what number error my modem reported.
then i went and checked my comtrol panel, and i just couldn't clik on the system folder. if i tried my computer would try and open all the folders in my contoirl panel, and advised me not to do it! i eventually got around to actually opening the folder, and of course the writing was still there.

hey LDTate, doing a search on the web, and it appears i can get rid of C:\WINDOWS\System32\MsPMSPSv.exe what do you think, and how do i get rid of it?

click Start>Run and type regedit tap enter key.


Regedit will open. At the top of the window click edit> Find> then copy and paste the following into the window.

ERROR: water was detected


Then click find now.
When you find the entry right click on it and select delete, answer ok at the prompt.
Next, press "F3" to continue searching, if another instance is found, repeat the above steps, until you see the "completed searching" message.


Do the same for this:

Lets look at what's in the startup.

click Start> Run> type in Msconfig tap enter key.
look in the Startup. List everything there and point out which ones have a check next to it.
