Found them and deleted them. When I rebooted found param32.dll again and repeated process. Problems remain. Computer essenteally unusable. Are we close to a solution?
Let's it this way. I removed the extentions from the files and added specialgoods. Maybe more of them listed with different extentions. I don't know why this bad guy won't die.

click Start>Run and type regedit tap enter key.

Regedit will open. At the top of the window click edit> Find> then copy and paste the following into the window.

param32

Then click find now.
When you find the entry right click on it and select delete, answer ok at the prompt.
Next, press "F3" to continue searching, if another instance is found, repeat the above steps, until you see the "completed searching" message

Repeat for these:
guninst
specialgoods
popup_bl

Now do a search for the 4 without any extention. Delete all found.

Reboot.
One more time.

double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\popup_bl.dll
c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\guninst.exe
c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\param32.dll

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

While your computer is restarting, tap the F8 key continually until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Run HijackThis and put checkmarks in front of he following items.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad/ad0271/

Post a new HijackThis log when you are done.
You should already have it unless you removed it.

Download KillBox.zip from here:
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
Place it in a folder on your Desktop.

Extract KillBox from the zip file and double-click on KillBox.exe to run it.
Its seems to be taking forever, and frankly I am running out of time. Here is my new loLogfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

gfile. Thanks again for your time.
So you did a search for the files and they weren't found?
If they're not listed anymore this should go away.

Here's a link to the same infection you have. Only it's W98.

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad/ad0271/

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Reboot and let me know if it's gone.
Still there. when i put a check next toR0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad/ad0271/ it highlights blue and trusted zone enumeration sign comes up. I can delete till the cows come home and its still there.
Well this might be worth a try

Download DelDomains.inf
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click and select….. Save Target As….Save

To use: Right-click and select……. Install (no need to restart)
**Note** This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone"
While i was waiting for your response I went to the geeks thread and downloaded the geeks link. Surprisingly I was able to paste my clipboard into their killbox. I rebooted and went into safe mode and was able to delete specialgoods. However now i have about:blank. I rebooted and here is my new logfile.
