Hi frends!
This is my first time on this forum(any forum) and i need help(of course).
Please forgive me if i am making mistakes, this is new to me.
I am researching on the internet this aurora adware/virus garbage that invaded who knows how many pc-s just like my computer.
This is how i got here.
This pop up is infecting many pc-s and it is very hard to get rid of it.
I saw on this forum that you have a solution(Hijackthis) and i am asking for help.
On the log you may see that i have probably other infections too.
I noticed a few other things that look suspicious to me but i am a novice in this
virus clean up thing and would not delete anything until i post my log here.
So far doesn't slowed me down too much but i know if i don't clean up my computer i will have more problems later. Looks like IE is getting hit harder by this viruses( i am using Firefox riht now).
Here is my log:

2. Also, while at that place in control panel, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification", By doing this, you will be notified as soon as I have posted a reply to your log.

3. Please perform a Full Ad-Aware Scan
Please download Ad-Aware SE from here:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
Install Ad-Aware and run it. In the bottom-right hand corner, click "Check for updates now". Click "Connect" to download the newest reference file.

Now we will configure Ad-Aware to perform a full scan. In the Ad-Aware main window, click on the gear icon at the top of the screen to open the preferences window. In the "General" window, make sure the following options are selected:
1) Automatically save log-file
2) Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
3) Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

Click the "Scanning" button on the left-hand side and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Scan within archives
2) Scan active processes
3) Scan registry
4) Deep scan registry
4) Scan my IE Favorites for banned URLs
5) Scan my Hosts file

Please also click on "Select drives & folders to scan" and select your hard drive(s). Then click the "Advanced" button on the left-hand side and make sure all the options under "Log-file Detail Level" are selected. Next, click the "Tweak" button on the left-hand side. Click on "Scanning Engine" and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Unload recognized processes & modules during scanning
2) Obtain command line of scanned processes
3) Scan registry for all users instead of current user only

Click on "Cleaning Engine" and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Always try to unload modules before deletion
2) During removal, unload Explorer and IE if necessary
3) Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
4) Delete quarantined objects after restoring

Finally, click on "Safety Settings" and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Automatically select problematic objects in results lists
2) Write-protect system files after repair (Hosts file, etc)

Click on "Proceed" to save the preferences. Then please click the "Start" button on the bottom right side to begin a scan. Select "Use custom scanning options" and then click "Next". Ad-Aware will then scan for malware. When it is finished, make sure any objects listed in RED are selected and click "Next" to remove the objects. Then please restart your computer.

4. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Hi Trevuren!
Thanks for helping me!
I did what you told me to do. I made the adjustments in My controls and i down loaded Ad-Aware SE and i did the scan. Over 300 items had to be deleted.
I had a little problem getting back here. Hopfully i am in the right tread.
Maybe i need a little help to find my way to back to my posts on the first screen.
Here is my log;

Pleng
Hi pleng

Just follow the instructions I gave you in my first post (para 1 and 2). When I post to you, just click on the link in the message and it will bring you right back to your thread. Or save the link from your address bar to your Favorites the next time you are on your thread.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Download and install Cleanup from: HERE. Extract it from the zip file to your desktop. Install the application accepting the defaults. DO NOT RUN IT UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED

2. Download and install a 14-day free version of Ewido Security Suite from:HERE. Update its definitions. DO NOT RUN UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED.

3. REBOOT into Safe MODE

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

4. Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.myway.com/mysearch/?ptnrS=BW
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O2 - BHO: BolgerObj Class - {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410} - C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zpfujj] c:\windows\system32\zpfujj.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [farmmext] C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [svqybn] c:\windows\system32\ybntvu.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {6685509E-B47B-4f47-8E16-9A5F3A62F683} - file://C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\Sy350\Tp350\scri350a.htm (file missing) (HKCU)
O16 - DPF: {450D402A-2E53-4A74-B4F3-3E42B126AE50} (NCPlusViewer Control) - http://216.116.108.121/client/cab/NCPlusViewer.cab
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and DELETE them (if they are present):

FILES

c:\windows\system32\ybntvu.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\peter\LOCALS~1\Temp\bwgo0000fcb5.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
c:\windows\system32\zpfujj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

FOLDERS (with all their content)

C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker

5) Go to start > run and type: sc delete SvcProc

6. Go to start > run and copy and paste: C:\Windows\Nail.exe /FullRemove into the box.

7. Locate Cleanup through START< . Click the Cleanup Icon and when the program opens, click on the clean up button.

8. REBOOT into NORMAL MODE .

9. RUN and perform a FULL SCAN with EWIDO.

10. REBOOT your system.

11. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Thanks!
Ok I am back again, looks like the popups are gone and because my temp internet files were cleaned some cookies are gone too but that is not a big deal. I still can't open my System Restore from my start window and i am not able to go to the windows update site with IE(getting blank page) but this may be some other problem. I tought this was related to the infections but maybe not. Let's see what you find in my log. Thanks!

Hi Trevuren!
I used killbox and i deleted both items.
I did not need to delete on reboot because the the two files were deleted but i rebooted anyway.
I found the item you listed for hijackthis to fix(F2-REG etc.) but Hijackthis would not
delete this file. A blank screen apears after i check the file and try to fix it and the file is still on the list in the log. I rebooted too.

Hi pleng,

This is a good thing, it is telling us what is wrong with your system restore. There is a corrupt file. Please do the following in the order prescribed

1. Run EWIDO in Safe mode

2. Go to start > run and type: %WinDir%\Nail.exe /FullRemove

3. Reboot into Normal Mode

4. Use Kill box as per previous instructions on C:\Windows\Nail.exe

5. Open HJT, SCAN and place a checkmark beside:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

6. Click Fix Checked. Exit program and REBOOT system.

7. Go to this link Restore Problem and see if their recommendations help.

8. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren
Hi Trevuren! Looks like we reached a dead end here. Until now everything worked as you instructed me, but now after the first point (runing EWIDO in safe mode) the rest of the points all failed. After going to Run> %WinDir%…. …./fullremove the file wasn't found. Killbox failed to fix the nail.exe file(blank screen) and i am still working on fixing Restore. Of course Hijackthis did not delete the first line that failed on the previous attempt too. It is still there in the log. I wonder if i need to reinstall windows xp in the repair mode to fix my problems and after that try to go trough this last phase again. So far the popups are misssing and i am getting warnings that malware programs are trying to enter. I think we cleaned up a whole bunch of garbage so far but not everything. What you think? Thanks for the help and i am waiting to see where should i go from here.
Thanks! Hi pleng,

You apparently were working with an unhealthy system to start with.

I have to agree with you, a Repair is in order

Regards,

Trevuren
Hi Trevuren!
I am back. I reinstalled windows xp in repair mode and so far it works better.
IE works again and ican get to the windows update site too. Also my system restore is functioning again and so far i did not have any pop ups or pop up alerts.
I used killbox to delete Nail.exe and this time it worked.
I did the HJT scan and I did not find the F2 file path that had to be deleted.
What you think am i clean or just getting closer?

Hi pleng,

It's looking a lot better. When you are clean. Get all those Microsoft updates

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and DELETE them (if they are present):

FILES

C:\DOCUME~1\peter\LOCALS~1\Temp\bwgo00024c1c.exe

FOLDERS (with all their content)

C:\WINDOWS\web

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren
