Hello and Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Sorry for the wait but the forum is very busy. If you still need help post a new log and I will post back to you as soon as possible. Read this information first.

1) This is a valid system file, please view this information in the link.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\umonit.exe
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-4002.html

2) You are running msconfig utility in Selective Startup. In order to access your log I need to see it in Normal Startup.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. The text below was copied from

Umonit

Umonit.exe

(???)

Trojan virus program which masquerades as a supposed “USB Monitor” program. The deception has been so successful that many sources on the web genuinely believe that this task alerts the user when a USB device has been plugged in. It does nothing of the sort : in fact, one of its unwanted side-effects is that it actually makes the PC unbearably slow as soon as specific types of USB devices are plugged in. We have as yet no idea as to how this program gets onto end‑user PCs.

Would appreciate any advice you can offer on cleaning up my computer. I have set msconfig to "normal" and I have run HJT again - see log below.

I regularly run MSAntiSpyware, Spybot, AdawareSE, CWShredder, Norton Corporate version of Antispyware. I use a wireless router (encrypted).

Please let me know if there is anything that I should eliminate. And thanks again for your time.

Hello wyoming, I want to say that CastleCops is our standard and it would be unusual for them to be wrong but it is surely not impossible.
Here again is the information that is provided: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-4002.html First please note it is coded U "Users choice" so you can remove the program if you wish. Here is the google page where you can review multiple sites opinions about this item:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc…&q=umonit%2Eexe I suggest you also navigate to the item and right click to view the properties as that may give more information to you. One other suggestion would be to have it tested and here are two places where you can upload the file for inspection free of charge.

http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus

I would appreciate it if you let me know if you get any information, I am going to notify CastleCops of the possible error anyway. Here is a little information about CWShredder, I see no reason to do more than update it occasionally.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popu…WShredder.shtml

The balance of your log is clean. You do have a few programs running that could be started via Start/All Programs to save a few resources but you seem to know your computer so I will not go into that and you can return to Selective Startup. Since you are clean (until we find out for sure about C:\WINDOWS\system32\umonit.exe, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
