Hello lkmurphy, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. That's about all I see in the log…first time I have seen this one also. Let's do a little cleaning and a trojan check while you are in the chair… :)

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

2) Need to turn off Beta Microsoft AntiSpyware as it will block the fix:
Microsoft Antispyware
To disable the program, follow the instructions below:
A.) Right click on the Microsoft Antispyware tray icon (a little red and yellow circle looking thing)
B.) Click on Security Agents Status (Enabled)
C.) Click on Disable Real-time Protection.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.newgenlook.info/ad/ad0058/
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file
(check the next one if you DO NOT want this for your StartPage)
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.club-vaio.sony-europe.com/
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.sony-europe.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.sonystyle-europe.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.vaio-link.com

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Let's check for trojans to make sure none are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system and set it to clean or fix anything it locates. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

PURGE SYSTEM RESTORE
When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed follow these instruction:

Hi PSKelley, sorry for delay, but was unable to work on laptop for a few days, followed instructions: Trojan-scan identified; trojan-downloader.win32.war.spy.g file location: c:\\windows\system32\param32.dll I removed this using Killbox as couldn't get "a-squared" program to run. Now clean and running well, thanks for the help.
Hi again lkmurphy,

Hi PSKelley, sorry for delay, but was unable to work on laptop for a few days, followed instructions:

No problem, they keep me plenty busy, we actually do not have time to think about your post again until you post and we get the notification. Kind of like a doctor, no idea who is coming in the door next :)
Good job of scrambling when you could not remove it with the program I gave you. I have others but that one usually works, and Killbox sure does. I do need to see a last log for a final check. I will give you this information now: Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
