Download this tool: LQfix.zip
Unzip it to your Desktop.
Don't use it yet!

IMPORTANT! Reboot the computer into Safe Mode (tap F8 during bootup, use arrow keys to select Safe Mode, then hit 'enter').

Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A doswindow will open and close again, that is normal.

Reboot into normal mode and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.
Thanks. Also, I'm getting Aurora pop-ups. Here's the new log:

Also, I did a little hunting around and I found that the company that owns and "distributes" Aurora also distributes an uninstaller which can be found http://www.mypctuneup.com/evaluate.php and the admins over at the TechGuy forums claim it's legit. Thanks again.
Hi,

I would like you to do the instructions listed below. MyPCTuneUp has been on a list with Rogue Anti-Spyware Programs, and I still don't trust it…

Download Killbox.
Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".

Now copy the next bold:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\BUNDLE~1.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\MKRRM.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\UNADBEH.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DAOOD.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\SGEESYI.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WINUP2~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DOXXDAN.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\INAAIZ.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WMCONFIG.CPL
C:\docume~1\alluse~1\startm~1\programs\startup\RTUU.EXE

Open 'file' in the killboxmenu on top and choose Paste from clipboard

Now you will see, this is pasted in the "Full Path of File to Delete"-field.
There's a little arrow (dropdown-arrow) next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines must be there together!

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot.. Click YES
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.

Your system must reboot now.

Open notepad and copy and paste next content in the field in it:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\mqssmynn]

[-HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{eb7eadbf-7789-4f9a-bb0d-a61688cf43db}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{eb7eadbf-7789-4f9a-bb0d-a61688cf43db}]

Save this as Qfix.reg choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you to add the content to the registry, click yes/ok

Post a new findqoologic-log in your next reply.

Hi Jacob,

1. Run HijackThis (“Do a system scan only”). Put a checkmark near these lines:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\inaaiz.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [mf3216] C:\WINDOWS\System32\mf3216.exe

2. Close all other windows and browsers, and hit Fix Checked.

3. Run Killbox.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".

Now copy the next bold:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\inaaiz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mf3216.exe

4. When rebooted please make a new HijackThislog, and post it here :)

Looks great! :D

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers real-time protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
I also suggest that you delete your Temp folders regularly. Use CleanUp! to do this automatically for you!
