Hi Buffalomitch and welcome to TomCoyote!

I'm 'Kotaguy, and I will be helping you with your HijackThis log.

You may want to print my instructions out for reference during the fix.

I need you to make sure Spybot's TeaTimer is disabled until the fix is complete.

1. Run Spybot-S&D
2. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3. On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5. Restart your computer.

Download and install CCleaner. Don't run it yet.

Download CWShredder. Save it to its own folder. Run the program, update it. Press the Fix button.

Make sure no files will be hidden. To do this:

1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. Click OK.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager. End Task:

ViewMgr.exe

Go to Add/Remove Programs, uninstall the following if found:

Viewpoint Manager
Wild Tangent

Click Start>Run, type in services.msc. Look for these Services in the list:

ZESOFT
Network Securoty Service

For each of these services, do the following:

You can exit out of the services console.

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and Fix:

Thanks for posting the new log.

Please don't run HijackThis from a Temp folder. Run it from its own folder like you did in your first post.

Copy the following quote box into a notepad file.

Save to the DESKTOP (so you can find it) as ALL FILES, with the name of KILLTRUSTED.REG

Then double click the file - when it asks say yes to merging with the registry.

Hello - thanks for the help so far. I am running into a problem. for some reason I can not open notepad files, I get the message " windows can not find, and then the file directory"
Check for notepad.exe in your C:\Windows folder. Let me know if it is there or something close to that. It's possible something renamed it. Might show up as note.com Let me know what you find.

Thanks for posting the new log.

Good Work!! Log is CLEAN!!

To clean up any remnants that we might not have been able to get with HijackThis, you might want to do an online scan or two. A couple good ones are Panda ActiveScan and TrendMicro HouseCall. Let them fix anything they find. Reboot between each scan.

If you don't have Ad-Aware, you should install it as well. Visit this page for proper configuration. Run and scan with both, letting them fix whatever they find. Remember to reboot between each scan.

Now that your computer is clean, you should reset your System Restore point. This will ensure a nice clean backup to fall upon if you ever need it. To do this:

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Check the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives"

Reboot your computer, follow the steps above, this time unchecking the "Turn off System Restore" and reboot.

Along with Ad-Aware and Spybot, you might also want to look into installing SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, and IE-SPYAD. You can grab them from the links in my sig. The programs are free and can be updated, so please remember to do so. Installing these will go a long way in preventing reinfection.

Check out the links in my sig named How'd I get Infected and Understanding Spyware as well, some good information for you :)

Might want to think about installing Service Pack 2 as well.

Other than that, remember to update Windows frequently, update your protection programs, scan often and…
