Hi mrmauler, and welcome to TomCoyote!

I'm 'KotaGuy and I will be helping you with your HijackThis log.

You may want to print this out for reference during the fix.

Please move HijackThis from your Desktop to its own folder(eg: C:\Program Files\HJT\HijackThis.exe).

Download and install CleanUp!. Don't run it yet, we will use it later.

Make sure no files will be hidden. To do this:

1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. Click OK.

I'm going to need to get you to disable Spybot's TeaTimer and Microsoft's Real Time Protection while we do the fix as they might interfere with it.

To disable Spybot's TeaTimer:

1. Run Spybot-S&D
2. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3. On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5. Restart your computer.

To disable Microsoft's Real Time Protection:

1. Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
2. Click on Tools, Settings.
3. In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
4. Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
5. Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
6. After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
7. Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel. Uninstall New.Net or NEWDOTNET. If you don't see either of those in the list, go here and follow the instructions for Procedure 4. Uninstall Party Poker or WeatherBug if there as well.

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and Fix:

The 015's in your log, if you recognize/need any of the entries, you may exclude them from the fix. The rest of the 016 lines can be fixed if you want. They will reinstall if needed the next time you visit the websites.

Boot to Safe Mode. To do this:

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Tap the F8 button as your computer is booting to bring you to the Advanced Options Menu.
3. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.

Search for and delete the following folders:

C:\Program Files\PartyPoker
C:\Program Files\AWS

Search for and delete the following files:

C:\windows\system32\ossproxy.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ckswwt.exe

Browse to your C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch folder. Delete all files in the folder(do not delete the folder itself). Run CleanUp!. Empty your Recycle Bin.

Reboot Windows normally and post a new HijackTis log please.
Thanks for the help, here is the next logfile.

Thanks for posting the new log. Looks good, just one more straggler to get rid of.

As before. Disable TeaTimer and Microsoft Real Time Protection so they don't interfere with the fix.

Run and scan with HijackThis. With all other browsers and windows closed, place a check beside the following and Fix:

Reboot Windows and post the new log.

How's your computer behaving… any of the same symptoms?
My computer has been running good thank you. Thanks for all of your help, here is the logfile.

Good work! That is a CLEAN log!

Along with Spybot and Microsoft's program, if you don't have Ad-Aware installed, I recommend you do so. It may catch some things the others won't. You can get it from the link in my sig. Also visit the link with the instructions for Ad-Aware and Spybot to configure them for best detection. Update the programs and scan with them, fixing anything bad they may find. Reboot in between each scan. This should clean up anything we weren't able to with HijackThis.

And now that your computer is clean, its a good time to reset your System Restore point. This will ensure a clean backup to fall upon if you ever need it. To do this:

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Check the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives"

Reboot your computer, follow the steps above, this time unchecking the "Turn off System Restore" and reboot.

I recommend downloading and installing SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, and IE-SPYAD as well. You can get them from the links in my sig. The programs are free and can be updated… so please do so. Installing these will go a long way in preventing reinfection.

Also, I never saw any evidence of a Firewall installed, I'm sure you've heard of ZoneAlarm… hint, hint. :D

Be wary of what you download through Ares as well.

Other than that… remember to keep Windows updated, your protection programs updated, scan often and…

Surf Safe.
