I think the HID.exe is a problem , but can't delete it. There may be more. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Hello rabbate , welcome to the TC.

You might have a Lop.com infection. To remove it follow the instructions below.

Step #1
For Windows 2000/XP users

Click Start Select Control Panel
double click Add/Remove Programs
look for any of the following, and uninstall them:
Window Search
Window Searching
Lop.com
LOP SEARCH
Browser Enhancer
Ultimate Browser Enhancer

IMPORTANT!!!
you may find entries similair to the above but with Weird spacing in the names.

They are Lop.com, uninstall them.

You may be given a code to insert, do so and reboot when done.

If it is not listed in Add/Remove Programs, or if the uninstall does not seem to work go here:

http://lop.com/new_uninstall.exe

download and run this uninstaller. Reboot when done.
Hello - Have run Norton Internet 2005, says there is a adware.Iefeats security threat, when I down load the removal tool, it comes back saying not found. I also have Adware SE and MS Spyware, none of these programs have worked.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Rick

I suggest you do this:

Run HijackThis again and put a check by these.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Open C:\Windows\Prefetch\ Delete ALL files in this folder.

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I did exaclty what you said. However, not sure how to tell if all browsers or windows are closed when I ran hijack this. Should IExplore not be running when you fix in hijack this. I think it is still a running process that I cannot shut down, it keeps running. Should I run hijack this in safemode?

Thanks,

Rick

You just need to log off the internet and close Internet Explorer

We need to Disable AdWatch

Please disable AdWatch, as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.
To disable AdWatch:

Open AdAware SE.
Go to AdWatch User Interface.
Go to Tools and Preferences.
At the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options Active and Automatic.
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically
Uncheck both options. You can enable these after resolving your problem.
Ad-Watch.exe

I suggest you do this:

Run HijackThis again and put a check by these.

I disabled adwatch and repeated the process exact. I rebooted and I ran the hijack this scan. Everything was gone that I deleted. Even after I started Internet explorer. Then I reactivated the adwatch and everything came back again. Do I need to unistall and reinstall adwatch?

Thanks for everything.
