Hi all,

Can't surf web w/o millions of pop-ups. I'd greatly appreciate any help I could get.
This is my first post, hope I've done it correctly!

Thanks, sgtlmack

Hi victim and welcome to the Tom Coyote Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will he helping you.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Your system is under attack by some of the most malicious and most difficult to remove malware in exixtence today. One of these is corrupting your internet connection so we will fix this one first so we don't loose contact with each other.

1. Go to the Tom Coyote Forums http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?
.Click on My Controls near the top middle of the window (make sure you have signed in first)
.On the left hand column, click "view topics"
.If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there
2. Also, while at that place in control panel, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification", By doing this, you will be notified as soon as I have posted a reply to your log.

3. Backup the registry by going to Start>Run> and type ‘regedit’ without the quotes. Then on the file menu choose ‘export’ in XP.

Download the LSPfix.txt and read the readme file.

Download LSPfix.zip or LSPfix.exe
LSP-Fix program downloaded earlier, and click on the "Finish" button.
***To start the LSPfix….Close all windows except LSPfix

Launch LSPfix.zip and install to its own folder, then click on LSPfix.exe. Or click on LSPfix.exe and it will launch the program.

In the left hand (keep) LSPfix window there will be a list of files including the identified *.dll files that are listed on the O10 line in the HJT log. These are

dolsp.dll
aklsp.dll

Put a check mark in the box “I know what I am doing”

Move all instances of the identified *.dll files that are listed on the O10 line, from the left window (keep) to the right window (remove) by highlighting the file or files and clicking the arrow.

Click ‘Finish’

Now, using Windows Explorer, DELETE the following files:

C:\Windows\System32\dolsp.dll
c:\Windows\System32\aklsp.dll

REBOOT to complete the task.

Now Scan again with HijackThis (ALL windows closed except HJT) and POST a new log file in their thread using “Add Reply” to determine if there is anything left to remove.

Regards,

Trevuren
Thank you so much for the help that you have provided on this matter. I followed your instructions and the computer is acting much better. I am posting a new log as you have requested. The pop-ups are minimal and the connection to the net is there but, the computer is running like a turtle. Is this directly connected to the problems? If so please instruct me on how to remedy this. Once again… I was referred to this site by an associate and it has to be probably the best thing that I have ever come across on the net. thank you…

Regards, sgtlmack

Hi sgtlmack,

Your internet connection appears to be in order. However, I must inform you that your system is clogged with some of the worst malware out there and that complete eradication cannot be guaranteed.

In order to have the complete picture of what we are dealing with I need you to Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1)to a folder of its own.
HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. It should look something like this when done: C:\…….\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

B. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

C. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

D. Close ALL windows except HJT

E. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

F. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Trevuren
Hi Treverun,

It has taken me a while to post this because the computer is running very, very slow as I am sure you are aware of. The connection to the web is there but it is very patchy. I was able to finally get this log here after some time so I hope that with your help we are getting closer to the solution to all of this. I once again must say that I am greatful for all of your help and I am not sure what I would have done without your assistance. Thank you once again.

Regards, sgtlmack

Hi sgtlmack,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. I need you to place HijackThis into its own folder, not a Temp folder.

B. Copy HijackThis into this newly createf folder.

2. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now for the difficult part. Your system is suffering from the Bube virus which is a very bad one. Some systems end up by having to be reformatted. Before we start, make sure that you backup all your important data
in case we run into major trouble.

The following link will provide you with all the information concerning the virus/trojan itself as well as the best description around as far as how to use the programs. Calamity Jane's Treatment

I would advise you to print the article out so as to have it at your fingertips. Follow the instructions to the letter. When they mean SAFE MODE do it.
When they say DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET do it.

When you are all finished your chores, return to this thread and post a fresh HJT log making sure that all windows are closed except for HijackThis. We will start cleaning up the remnants.

Regards,

Trevuren
