Hello BigBwanaD, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need some help, please follow these directions. You have trojans on board: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen…est.trojan.html and http://castlecops.com/startuplist-4272.html In the links you can read a little about them.

Start by by running this free online trojan scan.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/
Scan your complete computer and have it fix or clean anything it locates. If it locates anything it can't remove I need the exact name and location of the item. If you get an ActiveX request please allow it as the software is safe and can't run without it.

Please download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

Look in Add Remove Programs, if you have anything in there about: WebSavingsFromEbates please uninstall it.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: TChkBHO Class - {B21BA361-93AD-11D7-A5A8-0030BD06C084} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RONKRRWL.DLL (file missing)

-DynamicDesktopMedia Control

Close all programs but HJT and all browser window, then click on "Fix Checked"

SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the follow link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore, locate and delete these files or folders:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEBSAVINGS_FROM_EBATES\ >>> Folder

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wsys.exe >>> File

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Don't forget any information from the trojan scan I should have.

Thanks…pskelley

Just wanted to refresh the thread. I realize you guys are swamped by reading the threads but wanted to make sure that you saw that I had replied.
Hello BigBwanaD, Thanks for catching this error in the reply system. I am supposed to be notified anytime you post and I did not get the reply notification for Apr 5 2005, 09:05 PM. I would have caught it myself in routine checks of open threads but I do appreciate your posting to let me know. I guess computers make mistakes too…lol.

Yep, I do need help with this one, all information I locate indicates a problem with this item: O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [windll] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wsys.exe"
If you know for a fact that this is a valid item, please provide me with as much information as you can. I need to make our databases aware of the information…Thanks much.

Many of these trojans corrupt parts of the AV on the system, I would suggest you contact Symantec for instructions. Generally a complete re-installation of the software is suggested.

Let's resolve this issue before we proceed, I show a clean log with the exception of the item in question. Here are the results of a google scan using "windll"
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=windll&btnG=Search

Once again, a search by the executable: wsys.exe
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc…en&q=wsys%2Eexe

And this is what google has to say about the line item:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [windll] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wsys.exe"
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-1117.html OR http://castlecops.com/startuplist-4272.html

I would take a hard look at the properties of this executable, and I will await the result of your search. Anything is possible, but this will be a first for me.
If you are unsure once you have looked at the item and reviewed the information available, I can give a link to a place that will test the file free and let you know.
