In the mid-1980’s, when the Internet was virtually an unknown entity, Armand Rousso started what is widely regarded as the first e-commerce company: The International Stamp Exchange. Did anybody know that?

Thanks for the info. A little googling reveals that Mr. Rousso is indeed a very interesting individual.

He is also responsible for the "Man vs. Machine" Chess tournaments(source),
a personal favorite of mine.
