Like the topic says, I have been getting warnings of having this virus for the past month. Norton can't do anything about it. I have run ad-aware, spybot, pest patrol, cwshredder, and even fxgaobot. I have downloaded AVG ant-virus as well, and that can't fix the problem it just gives me the same type of warning message that norton does. This is very annoying as I have click ok about 300 times a day. Any ideas on how to get this off my computer?
may be in your system restore points. you have ME or XP? try turning off system restore, then reboot. next turn restore back on and reboot once more. then scan with AV software and see if it picks it up.
go ahead and post a hjt log if you want–may provide some clues.

—–>go here http://www.subratam.org and under Removal Tools link find and download—-> Hijackthis.
Dont run it from within the zip file. Extract to a folder such as c:\Antispyware\Hijackthis\ or c:\Program Files\Hijackthis\ but not on your Desktop or a temporary folder.
This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary and prevent it from being deleted when the temporary folders are cleaned out or creating its backup(s) or backup folder on the Desktop.

Once you have hijackthis.exe in it's permanent folder:
Start the program
Press Scan.
After the scan- the Scan button will change to a Save Log button.Save the log somewhere like your desktop.
Most of the log is harmless. dont fix anything yet.
copy/paste the saved log in your next reply.

hi Gibby7227, well sorry to say i cant see anyhting in your hjt log. i really dont think you actually have the virus, as its pretty popular and easy to get rid of.ive seen youve done some online scans also. does the warning give a path for the virus it keeps "finding"
Straight from the Norton Quarantine Log C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS ….that is one of the locations and the file names start at 00004.SPL (which is a flash file) C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Portal ….one has about 200 random named .exe files like 00C9710B.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\serviceconnect.exe
hi Gibby7227, we have dgosling to thank for this one. run hjt once more and have it fix: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {45AD732C-2CE2-4666-B366-B2214AD57A49} - (no file) O23 - Service: .NET Framework Service (.NET Connection Service) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (file missing) ————————————— ok next look for svchost.exe in the C:\WINDOWS dir. –>make sure its in the C:\WINDOWS dir.<– there are svchost files which are >legit
Edit: I looked in the virus vault for AVG and it says Agobot is located in the C:\System Volume Information\_restore{753C81F4-8C6E-4FD1-90A1-D25354FFB451}\RP4.A000146.exe

The numbers at the end of the .exe file change, but nothing else in the file path does, if this helps at all.

There was no svchost.exe file in C:\WINDOWS dir.

hi Gibby7227, just to check lets do this: go to start>run and type in–> services.msc,<–in the list of services that comes up look for>>.NET Framework Service (.NET Connection Service) right click on it and select properties. under the general tab: make sure that the service status is: Stopped and the Startup type is: disabled ————————————————- lets also make new restore points: Follow the instructions below to disable/enable System Restore You must be logged in as an Administrator to do this. If you are not logged in as an Administrator, the System Restore tab will not be displayed. Turning off System Restore will clear out all previous restore points. To turn off Windows XP System Restore: NOTE: These instructions assume that you are using the default Windows XP Start Menu and have not changed to the Classic Start menu. To re-enable the default menu, right-click Start, click Properties, click Start menu (not Classic) and then click OK. 1. Turn off System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer. Click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Check Turn off System Restore. Click Apply, and then click OK. 2. Reboot. (will delete possibly infected restore points) 3. Turn ON System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer. Click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*. Click Apply, and then click OK. 4. Reboot (new clean restore point)
