LDTate…Happy Easter,

Ran this program and everything seemed OK.

Had to reinstall roxio CD creator before I could run grisoft program. Said there was a bug that would affect the grisoft program.

Here is a new HJT log:

Happy Easter, to you also :D

Might be a good idea to remove one the the anti-virus programs. Use Add/Remove Programs. Running two can cause conflicts. I wanted to see if Grisoft would find something.

Good Job

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
LDTate, Everthing seems good. No Security Warning when I go to my home page. Ran spysweeper ..nothing found. I did update Spywareblaster. As for antvirus programs, I got tired of Norton and started using this AntiVir program (freeware). Do you have any opinion on what to keep? AVG or AntiVir? Once I hear back from you I'll complete the restore. thanks for all your assistance…it's been a learning experience and quite interesting to say the least. Mike

Do you have any opinion on what to keep? AVG or AntiVir

I don't know about AVPersonal it could be a good one.
I use AVG myself. It seems to be very good.
LD Tate: I'm going to try the AVG program. I like the interface better. We'll see how it goes. Also, is there a specific routine to follow and programs to run to keep free of all of the spy, ad and viruses out there? As for a firewall, should a be using something other than what is in the SP2 upgrade? After this go around I want to make sure I keep clean. Thanks Mike
Biggest thing is to keep everything up-to-date. AVG does it's own updating if you set it up that way. Mine looks for updates daily. The others I check for updates once a week.
