Hello stutt

W32 Blaster Removal tool.
Please use the following link and read the information provided. Then, download the Removal Tool and follow all directions given.

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen…moval.tool.html

Please use the following links to run one, or more of the three online Virus Scanners, including Trend Micro and let them fix whatever they find. One may find some things and another will find differant things. The more you run, the more likely you are to find everything.

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

And here are links to two online Trojan Scanners. Lets run one, or both of these too.

I just wanted to know if my log was clean
Hello stutt

Sorry for the snafu. I'm receiving false positives from a couple of programs used to detect problems in HJT logs. Your HJT log does seem to be clean.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

Download the new Ad-Aware SE version, and follow the instructions on how to do a full scan: http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=11150
-reboot after using Ad-Aware SE. Also while there get the VX2 plugin and follow the instructions to run it also.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.

And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place?
I use all those programs you mentioned except mvp hosts.I use the host file in spybot search and destroy. Is that host file good to use.I also use Qwik fix pro which stops exploit vunabilities. Is that the program that gave you false positives. Is that a good program.
Hi stutt It sounds like you are well set with your Internet defenses. No, Qwik fix pro was not the program in question. I have never used that particular Program, so I have no opinion about it, other than it does not raise any red flags when being searched for, so would seem to be safe. It has been a pleasure working with you.
