Hello suziemck. Welcome to TomCoyote forum. You posted at 10:59 AM then posted again at 2:17 PM. :( You must learn to be patient. Folks usually wait for days for a response and when you create multiple posts it just adds to the confusion. If you still want help then follow these directions.

MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000) Your IE browser is seriously deficient and you will continue to get infected. You need to go to Windows Updates and download all of the critical updates for this computer. Please have this done before you post your next log:
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5co…t.aspx?ln=en-us

You have some real nasties on your computer, follow the directions carefully, do not rush. If you do not have time wait until you do. Thanks.

Depress Ctrl, Alt and Delete at the same time to open Task Manager. Locate and end process on these items:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\EAAKMV.EXE
Does not identify
C:\WINDOWS\SIXTYPOPSIX.EXE
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-7188.html

Open your Control Panel then Add Remove programs, see this information: HuntBar/Side may put an entry called ‘MSIETS’ in the Control Panel’s Add/Remove Programs option, which should remove this variant. If you see any of these programs use uninstall to remove it.

Open HijackThis and click on SCAN, put a check in the box in front of these line items, do not miss any!

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

Follow the instruction in the follow link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.

RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore, locate and delete these files or folders:

C:\WINDOWS\SIXTYPOPSIX.EXE >>> file

Hi pskelley – thanks so much for your help. I’m sorry that I appeared impatient. I thought I had done something wrong the first time, since the other new posts I could see appeared to be getting quick responses. Anyway, I’m considering my wrists slapped, and will try to behave better in future. Thanks for responding to me anyway.

I’ve followed your advice as closely as I possibly can. I include it (with my annotations) below, followed by the new log file. Hope that’s OK.

Thanks again,
Suzie

OK Suzie, I will forgive you if you promise not to copy my previous instructions into your posts again. Just wastes space, and makes the thread hard to read. If I need to see what I asked you to do I can just scroll back to my post thanks.

Along with your update in IE, Microsoft gave you the Alexa Toolbar. Here is some information about it, considered adware by many: http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/pest/pe…px?id=453073177 Most folks have it installed and don't even know it. It comes along with the two 09 items below and I always remove them to save resources knowing how precious resources are with Windows 98.

While you are doing this I am going to suggest you take a look at the Downloaded Program Files which are your 016 items. You removed the hostile ones and I would like you to remove any 016 line that you do not recognize or no longer use. (save more resources) If you should remove something in error you would be prompted to install the .cab file again the first time you visit the website.

Scan with HJT and put a check in front of these line items:

O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
016 items as discussed above

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click "Fix Checked"

Empty the recycle bin ( http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810869 ) and restart the computer.

Now for some good news…congratulations and great job :) , your HJT log is clean of all malware. Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

Post another log if you wish but you are clean and do not have to. I wish you good luck and safe surfing
Thanks…pskelley
