OK MC, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Technically you have no malware showing on this computer, but you are running Selective Startup in MSCONFIG so I have no way of knowing if any bad stuff is installed and just not running.

You also need to create a folder for the HJT.exe on your desktop. HJT needs to store backups and logs when you use it. I run my copy almost daily keeping an eye open for anything amiss in my log.

Look at your log, you have a lot of Dell stuff, searches, etc. plugged into your browser, I know that does not speed it up. I own a Dell, but if I want search I use Google and if I want to see new Dells, I type Dell into my Google and away I go to Dell. I would suggest removing this:

Looks like AOL is your ISP? Let me know if you want help with the stuff above. I see Spybot and TeaTimer, excellent program, I'll link you to a tutorial below.

thank you for all that information! do you think that i should reselect the programs that i have unselected in Msconfig, do another scan, and post the results? i am kind of afraid to do this, not knowing what fury i might be unleashing on my system!
Yo dead_bird, "NO FEAR" :) , here is a nice website about MSCONFIG: http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/

thank you for all that information!

You are so welcome, I am full of information…folks often say I am full of it  Since you are technically clean of malware, I do not need to see the total MSCONFIG listing IF you are sure there is no malware lurking in the items you have unchecked. If you post at the forums in the future (and if you follow the instruction of the experts I posted earlier, you should not be) just enable all in MSCONFIG, run the HJT scan, then go back to Selective Startup prior to restarting the computer.

Good luck and safe surfing

well, that is just the thing.. i am not sure if i have spywear or not.. i did a scan the other day [my mind is so jumbled up from all these scans but i *think* this was the order that i did them in] and McAfee caught a Trojan ["something-TW"] and a few other spywear problems, and deleted them.. i then did a scan with Norton, and it found nothing at all.. then, i used AdAware version 5, and it found a bunch of stuff which was also cleaned from the system, and then i did a Spybot search and it found MORE stuff that McAfee and AdAware didn't, and supposedly cleaned those too.. but then i did an online scan with Spy Doctor, and it found a bunch of stuff that the other programs missed.. SD won't clean your computer for free, and they make you pay to do it, so i wasn't sure if it was some sort of scam, and didn't bother paying the 30.00 or so for the program. so, today i did a McAfee and AdAware scan and they both came up with nothing, but i am wondering if they just both missed them this time, or if these nasty things are really gone from my system.. i am aware on how to use MSCONFIG, but what i am afraid of is if i allow all these programs to run, i might inadvertently be unleashing something nasty on my system.. my thought is that if the programs are not allowed to run in MSCONFIG, then they can't run at all? which, is probably complete carp**, because i am sure that viruses are smarter than this :) thank you for your help!
