Optional items to check with HijackThis for improved performance.
Resource hog that launches common MS Office components to help speed up the launch of Office programs. Some users claim there's no difference with or without it but it isn't required anyway.
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

With all other programs and browsers closed, click fix checked.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry:
C:\WINDOWS\KRBIP.exe

Check the option for "Delete on Reboot". Click the button with the red circle with a
white X in it. Click 'yes'. When asked to reboot choose 'yes'.

Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread.
Let us know how the computer is behaving.
Alsocom,

Proceeded with steps as instructed. KillBox could not find the KRBIP.exe file. Rebooted and seems to run faster but svchost errors still present. Ran HJT this again with the following log.

Have attempted to identify with Process Explorer the offending svchost. Am I on the right track? Is there a way to identify which application/module is calling on the svchost, causing it to choke its way up to 100% CPU usage and eventually die? The svchost message I receive is constant "The instruction referenced at 0x009a96bc referenced memory at 0x00000000. Memory could not be written."

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and a big THANK YOU for your help.

Your new log is clean.:)

Proceeded with steps as instructed. KillBox could not find the KRBIP.exe file.

Apparently that was an orphaned entry as it is no longer in the log. :)

Everything I'm finding on this error is pointing to an incompatability issue between HP All-in-One printers and Service Pack 2. If you have an HP printer, please go to this thread and scroll down to the sixth post (by regozcan). It has some great information in it as to possible fixes for this problem. :)
You may also want to go here and check for an updated software driver.

Let me know if this helps.

I suggest that you get these programs to help keep the computer clean:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer.
SpywareGuard - Real-time protection from spyware installation attempts
ie-spyad - Puts over 8,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites for Internet Explorer.
Google Toolbar - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
Firefox - Safer alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.

AVG AntiVirus - Free antivirus program if you currently are not using one.
ZoneAlarm - Free firewall program if you currently are not using one.

Update these regularly.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place"

Be sure to keep Windows and your Anti-virus updated.
Alsocom, You're a PRINCE! Installed HP patch for the 2710 printer and all's well. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Performance has increased markedly and the Svchost error messages have dissappeared. Your help has been immeasurable and worth every penny I'm donating to the site! A big THANK YOU for you help. :wavey:
