hi guys my computer i s almost at its end because it had soo many viruses and spyware . plus the windows are now changing colors and everything looks funny becasue the colour keeps changing PLLZ HELP

Hello bunnybaby and welcome to TomCoyote. :wavey:

Download FxAgentB.exe from HERE and save it to your desktop. After downloading, double-click the FxAgentB file to run it and the program will scan your entire hard drive - this may take a while. When it is done, it will generate a log file called FxAgentB.log - save that information as you will need to paste it here later. Reboot when done.

Next click HERE to download CWShredder and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update' and make sure you are running version 2.13. Reboot when done.

Then click HERE to download Ad-Aware SE and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Click "Start", select "Perform Full System scan" and "Next" to start the scan. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done.

Please update to HijackThis 1.99.1. (Open HijackThis and click config.. < Misc. Tools and click Check for Update Online.)
Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread, together with the FxAgentB log.

Please delete the version of HijackThis you have now. There is a new version out which you can get here. Save the file to your desktop.

Double click HijackThis_sfx.exe and select Unzip. When done click "OK".
Close the WinZip self Extractor window.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\HijackThis and double click HijackThis.exe. Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread.

You may want to print out these instructions or save them to your desktop as a text file with Notepad because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet.

Step 1
Reboot the computer into Safe Mode
* Restart the computer.
* As the computer restarts, press and hold down the F8 key until the Windows 98 startup menu appears.
* Choose Safe mode from the startup menu, and then press Enter. Windows starts in Safe mode.


Step 2
Open HijackThis, run a scan, then check the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://c:\windows\TEMP\se.dll/sp.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C13C27E4-8E3B-11D9-A857-0000023F58A6} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\HEBA.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sp] rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SE.DLL,DllInstall

With all other programs and browsers closed, click fix checked.


Step 3
Reconfigure Windows 98 to show hidden files:

* Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop.
* Click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.
* In the Advanced Settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, click "Show all files".
* On the View tab, uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
* Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Step 4
Please delete the following files:

c:\windows\TEMP\se.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\HEBA.DLL


Step 5
Reboot normally and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.

do i hae a virus on my computer if my the colors on windows and icons are distorted?

Step 1
Double click on CWShredder.exe, that you downloaded earlier, to clean up clicking FIX to have it remove all it finds. Reboot when completed.


Step 2
Reboot the computer into Safe Mode

* Restart the computer.
* As the computer restarts, press and hold down the F8 key until the Windows 98 startup menu appears.
* Choose Safe mode from the startup menu, and then press Enter. Windows starts in Safe mode.


Step 3
Scan with HijackThis, and check the following:

Step 4
Please set your computer to show all files.

* Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop.
* Click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.
* In the Advanced Settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, click "Show all files".
* On the View tab, uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
* Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

You'll need to reverse this process when the fix is done.


Step 5
Delete the following files:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TASKSCHD.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WAUCTL9X.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\MSXMIDI.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\NTOSV.DLL


Step 6
Reboot normally. Click here to download DllCompare. Start the Program with and click the Run Locate.com - be sure the \Windows\System32 directory is in the box and wait until the the blue text says it has 'completed the scan'.

Click the Compare button to start the next process. The results appear in two panes - files in the upper pane have been verified to 'exist', files in the lower pane were 'not able to be accessed'. Very few files should be listed in the lower pane when the Compare scan is complete. Click on each of the listed entries in the lower pane to select them. Right-click on the file and use the option Rescan. This will cause Windows Find to see if the file does exist, and then if so it will be removed from the list to reduce the number of identified files.

Click the Make a Log of what was found button and post the log here.


Step 7
Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread. Include the DllCompare log.

Were those logs run in Safe Mode? I need to see logs after the computer has been rebooted normally.


Click here to download mwavscan. Double-click it to run it, select all local drives, scan all files, press 'scan' and when it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane. Highlight it, CTRL C and paste it in your next reply.

System File Checker checks for damaged or replaced system files, and then prompts you to replace any files that do not match the original Windows 98 files.
You'll need your Windows 98 CD-ROM to do this.

To start System File Checker, follow these steps:
1. Click Start < Programs < Accessories < System Tools < click System Information < System File Checker on the Tools menu.
2. Click Scan For Altered Files
3. Click Settings, choose the configuration you want to use in System File Checker Settings, click OK, and then click Start.

Rescan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread.
