Hello svac, Welcome to TomCoyote furum. If you are still looking for help, please follow these directions, I like to mention that this item that gave you the LOP infection has nothing to do with Microsoft or the MSN Messenger.

You have a LOP infection that often comes together with Messenger Plus. To remove it we will try the simple way first.

1. Go to Add/Remove programs. Double click on "Messenger Plus!" (or click on Remove)

2. The "Messenger Plus! - Setup" is now displayed. Click on the Uninstall button. Note: options displayed on the first screen are not related to the sponsor program.

3. The sponsor screen is now displayed (if you don't see it, search for it in your Task Bar). To prove that someone is currently reading the screen, you have to type the code that is displayed. Once you enter the code, press Uninstall.

4. If you entered the code properly, the program will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall. You must answer "Yes" to this question, else, you won't have another chance of uninstalling.

5. To complete the uninstallation, follow the instructions that are displayed (the first one is to close all your Internet Explorer windows, that's very important). When everything is complete, restart your computer and, hopefully voila one nasty infection is gone.

I have been told by at least one person that no code was needed, would like to know about your case for future feedback to others. Thanks.

Open Task Manager under the Processes Tab, highlite and end process on these items if there:
Link eggs setup lite
Cdrom logo roam startCdrom logo roam start
softbows
forooze.exe
Move Curb.exe
software one.exe

Use the information in the following link to enable hidden files for your operating system:
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Scan with HijackThis and check the box in front of each of these lines if there:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.onbvrcsnlttytf.com/9JtBV6OVV5NA…vkYMTh3yQxu.php
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
(I suggest you remove the following item, pass it over if you do not wish to do this)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain
(may be gone)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
(these next three 04 items appear bad, if you know what they are leave them alone)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Link eggs setup lite] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\the nurb link eggs\forooze.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Cdrom logo roam start] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Dog Help Cdrom Logo\Move Curb.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [softbows] C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS~1\SUEVAC~1\APPLIC~1\COALCD~1\software one.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT click on Start then click on Explore, locate and delete these files or folders:
I have not seen these before, please make sure what is being removed is correct, you may need to remove the Application Data folder. I do not have one in Docs and Settings on my WinXpPro computer. Look to see if the exe applies to the Application Data, if you are unsure, check back with me and I will ask someone to look at this)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\the nurb link eggs\forooze.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Dog Help Cdrom Logo\Move Curb.exe

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS~1\SUEVAC~1\APPLIC~1\COALCD~1\software one.exe

C:\Program Files\WildTangent >>> folder
Clean Like this: Start, Run type "cleanmgr" without the quotes then ok.

Check and remove anything windows locates. Empty the recycle bin and restart the computer. Post a new log along with your comments. Use the following two links to stay in this thread:

Hi pskelley. Thanks SO much for your help. I will be happy to make a donation to tomcoyote when this is done. This is just awesome.
SO.. I was unable to remove "Messenger Plus!" from Add/Remove programs. Whenever I click on "change/remove" it just does nothing. If I hit the change/remove button again, it just kicks me back to the main screen in the control panel.
I clicked & fixed the items in my log as you suggested - no problem there.
When I did an "explore" to locate and delete the files you listed the following happened:
I was unable to delete C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Application Data\the nurb link eggs/forooze.exe. I got a message saying "cannot delete forooze.exe as program is being used by another person/program. I have nothing else open. Not sure what to do with that.
I did not find the file C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Data\Dog Help Cdrom Logo\Move Curb.exe

I did the "cleanmgr" as instructed but there was nothing in my recycle bin when I was done. I did it twice and still nothing in my recycle bin.
The good news… hec GREAT news is that when I restarted and opened up Internet Explorer I no longer had a nasty extra toolbar and the extra FAVOURITES that were added and I was unable to delete are gone too… YAY!

Again I appreciate you're help.
Will look forward to your next reply when you have time.

Sue
Well Sue, Whatever you did the LOP toolbar and MessengerPlus seems to be missing from your log. :D I can tell you those tree weird looking 04 items are part of the LOP infection and it all appears to be gone.

It appears you missed this one line: R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = Please use HJT to remove it, if you did not miss it and it came back, we will use Safe Mode to remove it. Here are instructions for entering Safe Mode if you need them:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam
I just noticed this program: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zSPGuard] c:\program files\pjw\spguard\spguard.exe /s /r and the information says it stops changes to your browsers search which is what we wanted to do. Turn it off then remove the above search line. If you have another problem with the LOP bar, turn the item off while you run the instructions as it may be blocking that change also.

Sue, I also see this restriction: O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
If you did not set it you may use HJT to remove it if you wish.

Everything else looks fine in the log, keep and eye on it for a few days, I will leave this thread open for several days in the event you need to post again. Since your log is clean, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online. Good luck and safe surfing.
