Hi, I hope i'm posting this right. This is my hijack log, i think i may have a few trojan horse viruses Perfect A, B & C. I have no idea how to get rid of them. I've tried ad-aware, spybot, and nothing seems to be working. If anyone could help me i'd appreciate it.
Thanks

Your version of Hijack This is outdated download the latest version from http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip and post a new log in this thread.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I'm having a little trouble with step one. It's not letting me download spybot right. I tried to run it, and it said some DLL file was not found. I think i must have somehow deleted some component used with spybot. Is there another spyware program i can try to use in place of that? Thanks Jennfier
Well in my attempt to run spybot i had 25 virus's pop up within five minutes. I ran my av, and got rid of most of them, but then i kept getting the mirosoft error pop up, and it wouldn't go away, and i couldn't click on any icons. The screen kept freezing, and i couldn't do anything on it. I had a friend come over who deals with computers for a living he went into the bios and everything, and told me the virus was too bad, and it couldn't be saved. So now it needs to be wiped out, and everything reinstalled. But i do have another computer that is the same, and i updated, and installed spybot ad-aware, and hijack this. This one also have a few trojan horse viruses that i can't get rid of, and also moves slow, so hopefully this one can be saved. Here is my Hijack log for it. Thank you for your help ;-)

Hi,
Thanks for all your help. I'm having problems with my work computer now :( I've been having a big problems with pop ups. I installed Mcafee antivirus, and it seems to be a little better. I also installed the google toolbar pop up blocker, but i'm still getting pop ups. I have run spybot, and ad-aware, and it takes them off, but then i will get pop ups again a few mintues later, and they are back again. They are ones such as Wild Tangent, Virtual Boucer, web-rebates, & 1800solutions. I saw some of these listed in the programs folder, but i didn't know if it was ok to just delete the folder.

Also my cursor keeps freezing, and i have to keep unplugging, and restarting. My boss recently had me install DSL, and i'm wondering if maybe i don't have enough RAM for everything. I don't know if you can help me with that one, or if i need to post in another forum. Here is my log:

Hi jennifer92174,

You have two anti-virus softwares running. Disable one of them (it doesn't matter which). Two softwares can conflict with each other.

Than, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall (if present):
nykywd00
VBOUNCER
Media Access
AutoUpdate
WinTools

You are running HJT with Winzip. You should extract it to its own permanent folder.

To create a folder for HijackThis:
Go to "My Computer", click on c:\ and then go to the "File" menu, choose New -> Folder. Name the folder "HJT" or something like that and then please extract the HijackThis.exe executable there.

Then, open HijackThis, run a scan and check these items:

Now please close all windows and browsers, except HijackThis, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking on Fix Checked.

Then, reboot in Safe mode. To reboot in Safe mode:
Restart your computer and immediately begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear. Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter.

You will need to configure Windows XP to show all files and folders.
1. Open My Computer.
2.Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
3. Select the View Tab.
4.Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
5.Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
6.Click Yes to confirm.
7.Click OK.

Then, delete these folders (if present):
C:\Program Files\nykywd00
C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar
C:\PROGRA~1\VBOUNCER
C:\Program Files\Media Access
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\msw
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools

Then, delete these files (if present):
c:\windows\system32\nmkdgud.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysmonnt.exe
wpnromon.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintask.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\crykpart.exe
AUNPS2.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system\koinlffv.exe

Then, delete Temp Files. To delete temp files:
Click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there.

Do this same process for %windir%\temp.

Then, delete Temporary Internet Files. To delete Temporary Internet Files:
Open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Then, reboot (in the normal mode) and post a new log in this thread.
Thank you so much! I hope i did it right. I've only gotten a few pop-ups and it seems much better so far. Here is my new Hijack Log

Hi jennifer92174,

You have two anti-virus softwares running. Disable one of them (it doesn't matter which). Two softwares can conflict with each other.

Then, open HijackThis, run a scan and check these items:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMan] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\msw\BMan1.exe

The following item is optional. It is upto you whether to check it or not.

This entry belongs to Quick Time Player and isn't required during startup as it can be started manually. I suggest you check these items (Note: QuickTime needs to be turned off in the program or it will simply reload later):
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

Then, delete these files (if present):
C:\WINDOWS\system\koinlffv.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\msw\BMan1.exe

Then, reboot (in the normal mode) and post a new log in this thread.
Here is my new log. I've actually had one of my AV's disabled since i know you're not supposed to run two of them, but i disabled both of them before i did this. My DSL is still running as slow as the dial up i had. Would that just be because my computer is too old? Thanks for all your help with the pop ups My sanity is coming back.
Jennifer

Hi jennifer92174,

Your log looks clean!!

Turn on Windows XP System Restore so that it can create restore points on your computer:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" check box.
5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

To prevent re-infection in the future:
  • I suggest you download Spyware Blaster to prevent the installation of Spyware in the first place.
  • IE-Spyad puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all and I suggest you download it.
  • Download and install Spyware Guard. An anti-virus program scans files before you open them and prevents execution if a virus is detected - SpywareGuard does the same thing, but for spyware! And you can easily have an anti-virus program running alongside SpywareGuard.
  • I recommend that you read a thead titled So how do I get infected in the first place? by Tony Klien which informs you on how to tighten the security of your PC.
