Hello all. Thanks for all the help you have given me over the past yr or so since I discovered this forum & in advance for all the help I'm sure you will give over my lifetime!!
I was working with Mozilla1.7.? then I tried changing to Mozilla Firefox. Well, I went in & deleted Mozilla 1.7.? and nothing has run properly since. I tried system restore, but to no avail. Now I can barely use Firefox or my backup Explorer. It actually took about 15 min's before I could get to this point. I really messed up & am hoping someone will know how to help me. As with most, my computer is my lifeline. I am in a remote location so this is really my preferred means of communication with home. Not sure if you will need more info than my hijack log but here is that to start. Thanks again

Hello nikto , Welcome to the TC.

Important: Do this before any fix.

You need to update your version of HijackThis. Open HJT> Config> Misc Tools> Check for update online. If that doesn't work, download it from my signature and remove the hijackThis.exe you have now.

Also please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

After the above:

This is what I suggest you do.

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Go here and run at least one online scans, allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.3 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.05 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hi & thanks for your warm welcome. Weird things happening, for example, just wrote this entire reply & as I was still typing using space bar my whole msg disappeared. So had to redo. Also, my mouse jumps around ( well the pointer actually) not sure if that's just because it's a cordless, just bought a few wks ago, but my comp is very slow loading web pages, I do have highspeed. I found a few hijack attemps which were difficult to remove & had prob's connecting to internet last few days, that's why I havent responded until today. Followed all of your directions to the T, & scanned with Panda ActiveScan ( the only one that would allow me to with the Mozilla Firefox browser I have) I do have a LOP on my comp that says it is deleated by adaware, but when i immediately scan it is back. Cant find it with a search of the path…. there good thing I copied my msg because it disappeared again before I was finished. It seems to close this window & put me back into your reply. PPPPPPPlease help, this is extremely annoying…I had a few hijack attempts that I deleted successfully manually, but this one I cant find. Used Panda ActiveScan, only one that would allow me to with Firefox browser, and it came back with nothing found. here is my new log I followed all of your instructions to the T: thanks again:

C:\DOCUME~1\Nic\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.547\HijackThis.exe

You still have HijackThis in a temp folder. If you don't move it, you'll lose it. :o

Important: Do this before any fix.

Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

The reason we do this is Hijackthis creates backup files just in case you'd need to restore one and we'll be cleaning out the temp files.

Now you need to uninstall Ad-Watch. It will stop any fix we try to do. You can re-install it after we have you cleaned.

Reboot:

After the above:

I suggest you do this:

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

ALL 016's. They'll come back if needed,

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Do you know what this is? If not, delte it also.
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [book send] C:\DOCUME~1\Nic\APPLIC~1\DEFAUL~1\Delete Web Proc.exe

Do you use webshots? If not, delete this also.
O4 - Startup: Webshots.lnk = C:\Program Files\Webshots\Launcher.exe

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Use ALT/CTRL/DEL and end the process for Ad-watch. It could also be on the taskbar. If so, you should be able to right Click on it and select close or end.

We got most of them anyway. :D

Me again…like you didnt know. Have done your last request, but I'm not sure why or how the R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.bbhpjkfsaiqxauocrzekgev.info/M0…4DmRiGv_7sIlk2d (and likenesses) keeps getting back in, I have had prob's over the last several months trying to keep the random letter entries out of there to no avail. Any answers oh great one? Also, is there a way to get the professional version of Ad Aware that I uninstalled back, or should I download the personal verson of it from the bottom of your page? Any other advice you have for me, or have you helped me all that one person can? Here's my latest log:

P.S. Forgot to let you know that my comp seems to be reacting fairly normally. A little slow, but my husband installed a fairly complex game on here ( never had any games on it before) so I'm sure that explaines the slight change.
Click Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs look for Ad-Watch. Remove Ad-Watch. If that isn't listed, then look in Ad-Aware and see if you can remove it there.

Reboot:

Hi ya! Well, I had uninstalled Ad Aware before I posted the last log, when I looked in add/remove there is nothing about Ad Aware or Ad Watch, I did a search & found a file that I can't open ( dont have the prog I guess) so I just deleted it. Did a search again & found nothing containing Ad Watch. Scanned, took out the R1& Rebooted, same thing keeps popping back in. I'm not sure where else Ad Watch could be, or why the R1 keeps reappearing. The comp seems okay, still a tad slower than usual, but no biggie. Any other ideas about this R1? Here's another log:

Blooming this is still there!!! Can't seem to get rid of it. I have had a few illegal operations ( or whatever they are called now) lately, would that be something to do with any of my prob's or is it usally that too much memory is taken up by prog's? The question you asked about the 04 in the log, not sure what it is I was wondering that myself. Should I run hjt & check it? Do you have any explainations as to why the R1 keeps coming back? Here's new log:
