THANKS A LOT….
skorpio,

Hello and welcome to Tom Coyote,

I am going to check your log and get back to you as soon as I can,

In the meantime,

* Be sure to reply to this post only, it ,makes it difficult to keep track of you if you post a new topic with the same problem.

* Go to MY CONTROLS / EMAIL SETTING and put a checkmark in ENABLE EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS

* Then at the top of this thread, click on TRACK THIS TOPIC

* Then reply to this post only

Ken545
Hello skorpio,

Your system is infected with a virus and also some serious Malware. This is what I would like you to do.

* use the links at the bottom of my post to take you to some of the tools we may need to clean your system.

* I would like you to go to the TRENDMICRO site and run there free online virus scan, be sure to put a checkmark in the box to AUTO CLEAN.

* You can run the one from Panda also.

* Next,

* Please download HOSTFIX from the link below.

http://members.aol.com/toadbee/hoster.zip

> Unzip Hoster.zip
> Open Hoster.exe.
> Then click on "Restore Original Hosts"
> Close program when complete.

Next

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

* Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
* Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts
* Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
* Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter.
* This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.
* Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

* Then click on my link to hijackthis, it is a zipped file and will install in C:\PROGRAM FILES\ HIJACKTHIS\ HIJACKTHIS.EXE. This is exactly where we want this program to run from.

* Then run HJT and post a fresh HJT log and the log from l2mfix

Ken545
Hi Ken,

Thanks a lot for helping me…
I was really worried…
I tried trend micro and panda and found few viruses and disinfected them…
Now the system performance has improved very much though I am not sure if its normal as before…

This is the report I got from L2MFIX

L2MFIX find log 1.02a

THANKS A LOT…
Hello again skorpio,

Glad that your system is on its way to better health. We still have a little more work to do. Your HJT log is looking much better, I am looking at your L2MFIX log and will back to you soon.

Ken545
Back again,

I need you to do the following, then post back with a new HJT log and the log from l2mfix

Run Part 2

* Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

* From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter.

* Then press any key to reboot your computer.

* After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so

Ken545
Hi,

I did what you told me and these are the logs after doing option 2 of l2mfix.bat

ALSO MY SYSTEM TAKES A LONG TIME TO SHUT DOWN… COULD YOU JUST LOOK AT IT PLEASE???

THIS IS THE l2mfix LOG

THANKS
Hello again skorpio,

I am concerned that you may still have a Trojan infection, this would explain why you are having trouble at shutdown.. I would like you to go to these 2 sites and run the free online trojan scanner,

http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

http://www.trojanhunter.com/

After you run the scans, let them fix what it finds, then reboot your computer and run HJT, put a checkmark in the following line if still present and click on fix

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [RediffAlerter] C:\Program Files\rediff.com\Alerter\alerter.exe

Now start your computer in Safemode

> Go to START/ SHUTDOWN/ RESTART and as the pc is about to start booting up, start somewhat rapidly pressing the F8 Key This will bring you to a menu, use your UP AND DOWN ARROW KEYS to scroll to SAFEMODE and hit the ENTER KEY

> Then go to MY COMPUTER and open up your C:\ Drive then click on TOOLS/ FOLDER OPTIONS/ VIEW and put the mark in the radio button to SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS then take the checkmark out of HIDE EXTENSIONS OF KNOWN FILE TYPES

> Now look for the following

* C:\Program Files\rediff.com\Alerter\alerter.exe <–Delete this entire folder
(Just this folder rediff.com Not the entire PROGRAM FILES FOLDER

Then do a search in C:\Windows and if present, delete the following files

* rediff.com
* alerter.exe
* Alerter

If there not in there, go to START/ SEARCH/ ALL FILES AND FOLDERS/ C:\ DRIVE and do a search for those files and delete them if you find them.

Now reboot your computer up normally, run HJT and post a new log please.

Then reboot again, run HJT and post new log please,

Ken545
Hello Ken,

I am really sorry that I did not reply to your post earlier…
But Infact I had replied day b4 yesterday.. But my modem had got hung and I didnt know…
So I thought that my reply was posted…

I HAVE MCAFEE ANTIVIRUS INSTALLED IN MY COMP AND IT DETECTED w32/sdbot.worm.gen.j IN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\NEOMONAP23.EXE AND DELETED IT… BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT THE VIRUS IS RE-APPEARING WHENEVER I CONNECT TO THE INTERNET AND THE AUTO-DETECT IN MCAFEE FINDS IT… BUT AFTER THAT MY COMP RUNS AT SNAIL PACE AND WONT SHUT DOWN… i HAVE TO SHUT IT DOWN THE HARD WAY…

I DID ALL YOU TOLD ME TO DO..

NO TROJANS WERE DETECTED DURING BOTH SCANS…

I FOUND REDIFF.COM IN ONE LOCATION AND DELETED IT…
THE OTHER 2 FILES WERE NOT FOUND…

THIS IS THE HJT LOGFILE AFTER THE 1ST REBOOT

skorpio,

C:\Program Files\DAP\DAPIEBar.dll
In reference to this program, this is for a program called DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR PLUS If you bought this program from a reputable site, then it's ok, if you didn't, then it is Malware and needs to be fixed.

If you want to get rid of this program, do so by removing it via the ADD-REMOVE PROGRAMS in the CONTROL PANEL.

Then run HJT and put a checkmark in the following entries, close all open windows and browsers and click on FIX

* O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - (no file)

* O20 - AppInit_DLLs: PAVWAIT.DLL

Then if you removed the DAP program, fix these also, if not, then don't go any further.
