Hello webmax
There are several serious issues with your PC. The fix will require that you download and use several programs. However, there is one that stands out as the most serious and that is that you are quite far behind with your Microsoft Critical Updates. Until you decide to visit Microsoft and get your PC current, we are fighting a losing battle trying to keep the parasites off your system. However, it would not be wise to attempt doing so until we have your system clean and have added a lot of additional protection.

The first thing I would ask you to do is post a current Hijack This log here, in this string, using the Add Reply feature, so I will be notified.
Piatan,

Thanks for taking this on!!

I've attached a new log file. since the last log file i posted, all I've done is run adaware afew times, but it keeps finding things it can't remove, even if adaware runs at boot up time, something to do witha tool bar.

Also this isn't my pc, I'm just trying to sort it out for a friend, I've never seem one in such a state!

Many thanks.

Hi webmax

Believe it or not, I've seen many that were much worse.
Your friend downloaded MessengerPlus3, which in turn brought along the LOP infestation, which may not even be the worse of the lot, but is the one we will need to deal with first.

Please follow all suggestions in the order given, to have the best results.

Please read this entire post before proceeding and please download any Programs you will need, at this time, before they are needed.

Please download this LOP Uninstaller. Then, run it on every account on your PC.
http://home.filternet.nl/~hansp21/new_uninstall.zip
http://members.rogers.com/rjmac/new_uninstall.exe

Then,
Please Download LSPFix from:

LSP-Fix

Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Run the program and check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and place all listings of aklsp.dll into the remove section by clicking on the button that points to the right. When all instances of only this dll are in the Remove section. Press the finish button.

Then re-connect to the Internet.

Please REBOOT into safe mode before proceeding with the rest of this fix, by tapping on F8 frequently, during Bootup.

Please remain in Safe Mode during this entire process.

Make sure your settings allow you to view "Hidden files". Open up any explorer windows and click on "Tools" => "Folder Options" => "View" and be sure to check off "Show Hidden Files and Folders".

Please print out these instructions so you can read them while you clean your system. A printout also makes a good check list for Hijack This, to avoid making errors.

Then, use ctl/alt/delete to bring up Task manager and END PROCESS on……..

WinTools\WToolsB, WToolsA, or any Wintools variant found.

MessengerPlus3

MyWebSearch

Toolbar (possibly TBPS)

MySearch\bar

WildTangent

VBouncer (possibly Virtual Bouncer)

Then, go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall/Remove the following.

WinTools\WToolsB, WToolsA, or any Wintools variant found.

MessengerPlus3

MyWebSearch

Toolbar

MySearch\bar

WildTangent

VBouncer (possibly Virtual Bouncer)

This above is an unknown and as such could be malware. Unless you both know and trust this 04 entry it should be fixed with Hijack This and the file deleted.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BearShare] "C:\Program Files\BearShare\BearShare.exe" /pause
BearShare is file sharing and as such is likely to include all manner of parasites and undesirables.

I am unable to resolve this 017 to a legitimate Internet Service Provider. However, if this is your service provider your internet connection could be lost if this 017 is fixed with HJT. So, in your best intrest, contact your ISP and provide them with this information and seek their assistance in resolving the issue.

Close all other windows and browsers, then click on "Fix Checked.

Delete the following File(s)/Folder(s) in DARK while in Safe Mode.

C:\PROGRA~1\VBouncer

C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar

C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch

C:\Program Files\BearShare(If fixed with HJT above)

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3

C:\Program Files\CSBB

C:\Program Files\WildTangent

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vwqxgc.exe

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsxsvc

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vmss

C:\DOCUME~1\Dave\APPLIC~1\DVDSET~1\Sectfree.exe(see notation above)

C:\DOCUME~1\Dave\APPLIC~1\GRAMAI~1\Soft Mfcd.exe

The following DIRECTORY CONTENTS (But not the directory) need to be deleted while still in safe mode.
* C:\Windows\Temp\
* C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ <=This will delete all your cached internet
content including cookies. This is recommended and strongly suggested.
* C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temp\
* C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
* C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temp\
* Empty your "Recycle Bin".

Reboot into normal mode, enable hidden files and post a fresh Hijack This log in this thread, Using the Add/Reply feature, so I will be notified.

Note: do not attempt to "Fix" anything, as we need to see the entire log.
Also if you have any Startup items disabled in Msconfig, uncheck those items, reboot, then post a fresh log. HijackThis can not "see" disabled items in Startup.
Piatan,

OK, its taken a while but i've run through the instructions, and pasted a new log file at the end of this post.

I couldn't find uninstall for Wintools\WtoolsB etc, WildTangent, or VBouncer.

I couldn't find folders for BearShare, CSSB, or WildTangent, but apart from that it seemed to run smoothly.

Also the 017 ip is my router address, but the pc dosn't seem to want to connect to the internet through my network, but thats another problem I'll look into once its clean.

It still runs like a dog, but I assume theres still plenty of 'Fixing' to do !!

Thanks

webmax.

Heres the log…..

Hi webmax
Well, we nearly had this whipped, but now we have a VX2 infestation to deal with.
Lets get some protection on that machine before going any further and then we can take care of the rest.
After completing the suggestions below, please post a fresh Hijack This log and we will get on with the cleanup. There is no need to run Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D at this time, just want to be sure they are present.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

Download the new Ad-Aware SE version, and follow the instructions on how to do a full scan: http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=11150
-reboot after using Ad-Aware SE. Also while there get the VX2 plugin and follow the instructions to run it also.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
  • And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place?
Hi Piatan,

Phew, got there in the end, I seem to be spending 90% of my time clicking on popups from SpywareGuard telling me there is an attempt to change ie settings! Mainly to do with R1 at the top of the log file below.

Here is the latest log….

Hi webmax

Part 1
Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
Piatan,

here are the logs….

Hi webmax,

Close all programs and windows, run Hijack This.
Place a check against the following item:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06FEF3EF-AEBF-AF93-BDBF-79750984DFC9} - (no file)

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

I have to say, I'm very surprised that some of those entries, in your most recent HJT log were fixed so easily.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we'll take another look, just to be on the safe side, before we reset your System Restore.
Piatan,

It doesn't seem to want to go, I've tried several times, but it keeps comming back.

Heres the latest log file…..

Webmax
