i posted a hijack this log before and was told to download and use a few system scanners and then post again.

i ran CWShredder and had nothing show up…
i ran Spybot - Search & Destroy and fixed all of the RED items
i ran Ad-Aware SE and fixed all of of those files as well

i made sure to reboot after each step.
now, i have run hijack this again.
i was told to repost so that i could find out what i still need to manually remove in order to get rid of all these annoying popups and enhancemysearch.com windows/links….

here's the log:

sooo…..what do i do from here?
em
is there anything else i need to get rid of in this hijackthis log? i did these other scans, but i don't know if there's anything left that i need to attack! em
i posted on here a few days ago because i was getting a lot of popup windows and also something from "enhancemysearch.com" that was throwing links into my emails and putting up popups as well…
i got 2 replies, i've now followed all the instructions and i ran a new hijackthis scan.

HERE'S WHAT I DID:

i was told to delete AproposMedia and PeopleOnPage from my programs, but i couldn't find them at all in add/remove programs (even under POP or CxtPls)…

i ran CWShredder, but it didn't come up with a single file for removal…

i ran Ad Aware SE & deleted everything it came up with (at least the ones it would let me)

i ran spybot - search and destroy & deleted everything in RED

i was told to delete everything in the following folders, which i did…
C:\Windows\temp folder\…
but i was also supposed to empty C:\temp folder\ … but i didn't find a folder in that location.

i used Trend Micro Housecall which found a few files that said there was a trojan detected in a windows file, but i couldn't delete it

i used BitDefender Scan and had the same results as the Trend Micro Housecall scan, a few were found, but it wouldn't delete all of the ones it suggested.

Last, but not least, i ran my norton antivirus…and deleted what i could from what it found as well. there seemed to be "threats" but not "infected" files…

SOOOO, now i've rebooted and ran HijackThis again, and here's my new log:

Hello emmaleeloo , welcome to the TC.

I suggest you do this:

Run HijackThis again and put a check by these.

ALL 016's. They'll come back if needed,

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Search for and delete these folders if listed:

C:\Program Files\CSBB
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsxsvc

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Search for and delete these files if listed:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\tudshk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsxsvc\wsxsvc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ooxng.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rasfile.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\emily\Application Data\lhhc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\d?dplay.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pdhcda.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\adl_dh.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hjgqgc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
so i did all that was said in the reply to my messages…

i ran hijackthis and fixed the problems that were listed (although i noticed that i checked the O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ooxng] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ooxng.exe file and it came back…)

i deleted the files that were listed and that i could find.

i rebooted in safe mode and followed directions (some of the folders and files did not exist)

i restarted again…

and now here is my hijack this log!

any further suggestions?

as for how my computer is acting…

that is to be seen. it seemed to start a little slowly, but it's been doing that for a while now, and now that i've changed a ton of things, that might be very normal.
other than that, i think everything seemed fine!

so….
any other ideas?
thank you SOOOO much for your help by the way!
i really appreciate it!

I suggest you do this:

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pFEh35P] instmled.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ooxng] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ooxng.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Otru] C:\Documents and Settings\emily\Application Data\lhhc.exe

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

C:\WINDOWS\system32\instmled.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ooxng.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\emily\Application Data\lhhc.exe

1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

i have noticed that although i checked the 'fix' box on HJT, both of these files
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ooxng] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ooxng.exe
came back. when i was in safe mode trying to delete them, the ooxng.exe file said that it couldn't be erased and to make sure the file wasn't in use…

i restarted the computer, did the HJT scan and noticed those files were still there.

either way, i seem to have WAY less popups coming in and i haven't seen an enhancemysearch link since my last message, so i'm sure most of the problems are being fixed YAY!!!

is it necessary to get rid of those files, and if so, is there some way to get rid of them that i am just unaware of?

thank you!
em
Download this file to your desktop.
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select 'Install'

Once it is finished your Zones should be reset.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE/Spyads, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE/Spyads, run the batch file and reinstall the protection

Use ALT/CTRL/DEL all 3 at same time and end the process for: ooxng.exe

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

i took care of all you listed in your last reply, and it looks like we FINALLY got rid of both of those files! i feel so silly for not realizing that all i had to do was end that process to delete it…

anyway,
here is the new log…

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
