I have a hijacker that I can't remove. I have tried using spybot, ad-aware, spyware doctor all to no avail. While using spyware doctor it would find somthing called "ready2search" it would say it removed it but it always came back. The Hijacker does the usual things it takes over my IE home page and redirects it to something called vroomsearch. It also adds folders to my favorites lists, many of them are porn sites. Every time I open an IE site it also opens one of the porn sites. I think ready2search is a variant of ilookup. Does any one have any suggestions on how to remove this threat? thank you Manny147

If you notice the lines containing vroomsearch. That is the page the hijacker opens when I lunch IE.
Hello manny147 , welcome to the TC.

This is what I suggest you do.

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Go here and run online scans (all), allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.3 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.05 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
i have a hi-jack problem involving (according to ad aware se), primarily(?), something called "bargain buddy". i have used spybot a number of times, adaware se 3 or 4 times, and a number of other free downloads, and i just can't get rid of this stupid thing!! one of these programs listed, like 5 java programs. ad aware se said in a decription of bargain buddy, that it might be undeleteable.(oh $%#^)!!! this thing added a tool bar w/porn spots, "male enhancements", finance, gambling, you name it. iv'e had this pc (means Piece of Crap) for a little over a month, so basically, i just figured out how to turn this thing on. HELP!!
There's a new version of HijackThis.

Please download this self extracting file to your My Downloads folder or My Received Files (dependent on your Operating System):

http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Click the "Save" button.

Navigate to My Documents>Chose My Downloads or My Received Files folder once inside that folder click "Save".

Now go to the folder you saved HijackThis_sfx.exe in.

Double click HijackThis_sfx.exe and select Unzip. When done click "OK".
Close the WinZip self Extractor window.

Open HijackThis and select: Do a system scan and save a log file.

When the scan is finished, Click Edit> Select All> Edit> Copy> and paste its contents here [Add Reply].

yaaah, i did it!!!!!!!!!!! it took a while, but i did it. i don't know if i can do it a again :( i had to use the first hijack this, my os said i did not have winzip????????? if there is nothing to be done about this,,, i shall offer my pc as a sacrifice to the fire god of hell. thanksxxxxxxx
p.s. what does the "warn(0%) [w/5 "skin colored blocks]" mean that's by my user name???????????????????????????????? so far, i haven't seen anyone else w/that. thanksxxxxxx
just as another note, if you please. when i ran a scan( please don't ask what program it was), it said that a mimail c worm was also present. can you tell me anything about this????????thanksxxxxx
i just ran a "counter spy" search, ahd what it listed as "the main threats" seem to come from e-Xact marketing. other than the cookies, the four major threats were: cashback, shopathome, bargain buddy, and e-Xact search bar. i don't know if you can tell what these are by looking at the hijack this log, but i figure every little bit helps. thanksxxxxx

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
