I have ran a hijack scan and would greatly appreciate any help with which files I should get rid of.

Hello angelalynnt , welcome to the TC.

This is what I suggest you do.

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.


Go here and run online scans (all), allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.3 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.05 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I ran the virus scans and found 69 uncleanable trojans. I ran spybot and Ad-Aware full scan, and removed whatever it found. You asked how my computer is behaving. It is running very slow and has pop ups, a tool bar I cannot get rid of, and Internet explorer keeps changing to another webpage. I run spybot and my earthlink spyware all the time and they always find 69 spyware. I remove them and they come right back. I will post a new log here as you requested. Thank you so much for your help.

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.


Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Search for and delete these files if listed:

C:\DOCUME~1\ANGELA~1\APPLIC~1\EXTRAT~1\OPTIONRECT.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\inside itch cake once\intra option.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hole Debug Option Bat\GlueCool.exe



Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.


Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.


Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Hi. I ran hijack this again and checked and fixed all the ones you told me to. I was then told to restart my computer in safe mode. I restarted my computer once, but could not get it to go into safe mode. I got a message saying that McAfee needed to be downloaded again bec. components were missing (I have not done yet). I tried to restart again in safe mode to finish doing what you told me, and now my computer won't even restart. I have tried several times. What should I do? I'll keep trying while awaiting a reply. Let it restart in normal mode. "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

It won't even restart or shut down in normal mode. It does seem to be a lot faster though.

I did what you told me and the computer did restart with a message saying componenets og McAfee are missing or installed improperly and to reinstall McAfee Security Center. Here is the log. What should I do next?

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

I did what you said and immediately scanned again and posted the log. Did not restart first. I do not have a McAfee program because I downloaded in online.

Let's see if you have a hidden hijacker.

Click here to download DllCompare. Start the Program with and click the Run Locate.com - be sure the \Windows\System32 directory is in the box and wait until the the blue text says it has 'completed the scan'.

Click the Compare button to start the next process. The results appear in two panes - files in the upper pane have been verified to 'exist', files in the lower pane were 'not able to be accessed'. Very few files should be listed in the lower pane when the Compare scan is complete. Click on each of the listed entries in the lower pane to select them. Right-click on the file and use the option Rescan. This will cause Windows Find to see if the file does exist, and then if so it will be removed from the list to reduce the number of identified files.

Click the Make a Log of what was found button and post the log here in this thread and wait for further instructions.

I ran the Run Locate scan and nothing showed up in the lower pane. I suggest you do this:


Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"


1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

I was able to restart in safe mode and did everthing you told me. When restarting the message about McAfee came up again about needing to reinstall. Here is my log. Thank you!
