If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
Ok, All done, Computer is running great….Now, do I have to do anything about those two icons I mentioned before, the extra IM icon or the red AOL free trial icon on the desktop? I just want to make sure this was not the cause of the problem or was it? I will not download anything like that again. Lizzyr13
I'd look in Add/Remove Programs and make sure they're not listed there. If so, remove them. Then delete the 2 Icons on the desktop if they're still there.
Hi, I did all you told me to do, My computer is still running very slow, but all the scans for viruses, ad aware SE, spybot, etc. all turn up with nothing found. So, I guess I am ok. Is it normal for it to be so slow switching from one user to another? If so, then I will not worry. Thanks again for all your help, Lizzyr13
Hi again, I am a question and I am not sure you can help me with it. Since we fixed all the problems from last week, I have been having a lot of trouble sending emails. I an write and send but it takes a very very long time for the receiver to get the email. I tried sending emails to my own aol account and I am not receiving them. I am worried because I do alot of my work via email. I checked all the settings but it all looks the same. Any suggestions and would it be related to the problems I had last week? lizzyr13
I would suspect this to be a AOL issue. Have you inquired at AOL? Do you have any other email accounts? If not, go get a free one like Hotmail or Yahoo. Just to see if your emails are working from them.
LD, I have hotmail and I was sending an email from my hotmail account to my aol address and it did not go through, but when I send from my aol address to my hotmail address it works, could it be a setting or something? Lizzy
I would suspect a AOL setting. I don't use AOL, so I don't know what the settings are. I'd visit AOL and see if you can find any information on this.
Ld, Can you take another look at my log. Computer running sooo slow again and I had trouble getting onto the internet today.
I removed the AOL but I have a feeling there may be something else I need to fix.

I guess I do, the only thing I am not sure of is that I do use AIM for instant messaging and I thought that was through AOL, forgive my ignorance, I am quite confused. I saw on the log there is some kind of aol thing on there, is that ok?

I guess I do, the only thing I am not sure of is that I do use AIM for instant messaging and I thought that was through AOL

AIM is part of AOL.
Lets leave AOL.

We can do some tweaking

Do you use Windows Messenger ? If NOt, fix.

I suggest you do this:

Use Add/Remove/Programs and remove Messenger

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

O4 - Global Startup: hp instant support.lnk = C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\hpis\bin\matcli.exe

O4 - Global Startup: Verizon Online Support Center.lnk = C:\Program Files\Verizon Online\SupportCenter\bin\matcli.exe

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Go HERE and download Crap Cleaner. Click the Download on the left side of page.
I did all you told me to, Here is my new log:
