Things are great!!!!
One question, what do I do with the three things I placed on the desktop:

You can delete them.

And, I checked my recycle bin and it worked just great. Also, I do have
Sygate Personal Firewall. Is this ok or should I get something different?

Sygate is fine. I use it myself.

Thanks again so much, You really helped me and taught me alot about fixing my own system. Lizzy

Great job

You're more then welcome.
Glad we were able to help :wavey:
LDTate, I am not sure if something is wrong, but when I try to switch users, an error message comes up and says unable to switch users, you must restart computer. I don't know what this is and have never seen it before. Is this anything to be concerned about? Lizzy
LD, Something is terribly wrong. I was using IM on AIM and it asked me if I wanted to update, I said yes, and I think I did something wrong. I quickly ran ad aware SE and it found 46 problems. Also, a new icon appeared on my desktop for a free trial of AOL. I already have AOL, so I do not know what this is. I had read something about AIM that has a virus. Also when I was running ad aware SE it said there were 38 processes running. Usually it only says like 17. What did I do.

LD Tate, I hope you are still on this site for me. You helped me so much last time. I need you to check my hijackthis log , I think something is really wrong. Lizzy
I suggest you do this:

Run HijackThis again and put a check by these.

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {40D41A8B-D79B-43d7-99A7-9EE0F344C385} - (no file)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Here is my new log, after I did all you told me to do.

I do have one more question. I still have this icon on my desktop, the AOL symbol in red with free trial under it. I also now have two IM icons? Do I need to do anything with them? Just want to make sure that is not something I did wrong when I did the update yesterday on the AIM, Lizzy
Make Sure Internet Explorer is NOT open when trying this)

Launch HijackThis, Select None of the above, Click Config, click the 'Open'Misc Tools'Section -> 'Open hosts file manager'. Delete every line (select each line and click 'Delete line(s)') except the very first top lines beginning with # and: 127.0.0.1 localhost

Once finished, click the 'Open in Notepad' button. It should look like this:

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
