Hi,
Am trying to help my neighbor with a computer problem. Found this forum. I ran lots of things to cleanup the system: CCleaner, Ad Aware, Spybot, MicroTrend virus scan, Stinger, etc…, no viruses, some ad/spyware removed. Things are running better but I'm trying to get rid of OEMJI - they don't know how they got it. When I run the normal windows software uninstall it crashes ME everytime…blue screen. So what are other ways to get rid of this OEMJI?? Do you see other problems in the log? Is OEMJI a problem or not?

I am not an advanced computer person but I can run software and follow directions!

Thanks in advance for your help. The computer is an old one and I want to get them off Windows ME soon, but this is what they have.

Hello ljtucson, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. What a great concept, neighbor helping neighbor. I also subscribe to that virtue, so I will try to help from here.
First, HJT needs a permanent folder to store backups (safety) and logs. As you can see by the line in the log below, this is not the case:
C:\WINDOWS\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES\CONTENT.IE5\23GBIJ83\HIJACKTHIS[1].EXE
You will need to choose a place, I can suggest the C:\ . Right click on a blank spot and make a new folder, call it HJT, then put the HJT.exe in that folder. Delete the Temporary Internet File after this is done so we won't have two HJT's running. Thanks.

I will guess that Comcast is their homepage, and remove all the other presario search junk Compaq/Hp is burdening you with along with http://www.oemji.com the sourch of your distress. If for some unknown reason they want to keep the presario junk, you will have to adjust the removal for us?

Open Task Manager (Ctrl, Alt, Delete at the same time) and end process on this item:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\OEMJI\OEMJISEARCHPLUS
(could be called something close to that, just don't miss it, Windows won't let us remove it while it is running and it is a running process.

You may have to enable hidden file to delete it, you can try it without. If it is hiding, then come back to this link to unhide it.

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT click on Start, then click on Explore, look for and delete this folder:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\OEMJI >>> folder

Run cleanmgr, dump all cookies, temp file and temp internet files. Empty the recycle bin and restart the computer.

Surf a bit to see how she is running, I will suggest if they need a good search tool to use http://www.google.com and if they are looking for a good search/popupblocker, this is the best one:
http://toolbar.google.com/

Just want you to know we are all volunteers, I do it because I like to help others and HATE malware. Your donation will help with the costs that occur with running a website like this. :)

Last but not least, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online.
