When I run dllcompare I get an error message, something about 16 bit msdos subsystem, and no results. with close and ignore buttons. This is wearing on me.
When you do run it, follow these new instructions:

Make sure it is set to scan the System32 directory, click the Run locate.com button.
When the scan is complete, you will see in blue Completed the scan, Click Compare to Continue at which time you will click the Compare button.

It will sort through the files it found and determine which should be flagged as "No access" and display them in the lower box.
In a few minutes it will complete (in blue Completed)
Click the button Make a Log of what was Found

See if that shows anything, if it does post the log. MrC

I think this adware problem is so serious it could kill off the internet. Why is it so hard to fix?

It's a fairly new infection - I'm working on one at the link below, if you want to see how it's done.

Here's a couple of links to the problem of running dll.compare.

It's been suggested that malware may be causing it.
You have run AdAware and Spybot - right??
How about a virus scan?

Make sure you set these to "auto clean"

Let me know. I know it's not easy but……. MrC
I've run just about everything, including stinger and avast AV. Sometimes they do find a virus, but it gets removed. I think this is a really smart adware prog. that reinstalls itself, and hides somewhere so that adaware and others cant find it. Very clever and dangerous. Like I said, I think this is really bad, I have used the internet for years without incident, and I am really shook up by this.
The programs I had you run won't fix your original problem.
It has been suggested that a virus and or malware may have deleted or damaged some of the files on your system - this may be the reason you can't run dll compare.

I'm just trying to solve "that" problem right now. To fix your original problem we have to run a couple of programs like dll compare.

I suggest you investigate to see if you have the files mentioned and try replacing them. If you have a friend who's running the same operating system maybe you can see where the files belong and copy the 3 files on to a floppy then transfer them to your computer.

Let me know, MrC
I found an easy fix for the dll compare problem, just copied the autoexec.nt file from the recovery directory to sys32. But it did not find any problems. I I reached my gag limit, and just reformattted. That solved the dayam spyware problem for now. Very evil. we need to find a better faster fix. I wasted 11 days, and all your efforts. Thanks for trying. A
Glad you back in business!!

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.
