Hello vgil, Or should I say G'Day Mate? Welcome to TomCoyote forum. You have a little adware that I can remove, generally the log looks good. Looks like you are running a trial version of Spy Watcher. I will make suggestions after I see your next log for some free programs that will work just as well. I will need a little help from you. I just need to know if you know what this is. I can't get to a site to make sure it is a valid Downloaded Program File. If you do not know or no longer use it, remove it along with the adware we are removing. Thanks.
O16 - DPF: ppctlcab - http://ppupdates.ca.com/downloads/scanner/ppctlcab.cab

I believe we need a folder around this file: (C:\Program Files\HijackThis.exe), HijackThis.exe needs a folder to save backups for safety and logfiles. Go to that location and create a New Folder and move the HijackThis.exe into that folder. It will then look like this:
C:\Program Files\HJT\HijackThis.exe. Thanks.

Scan with HijackThis and check each of these items.

(remove this now if you wish)
O16 - DPF: ppctlcab - http://ppupdates.ca.com/downloads/scanner/ppctlcab.cab

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

Run Cleanmgr: Start, Run type "cleanmgr" without the quotes then ok. Check and remove anything windows locates. Empty the recycle bin and restart the computer. Use the next two links to stay in this thread, and post a new log for a final check along with any feedback you think we should have.

Thanks mate!

http://ppupdates.ca.com/downloads/scanner/ppctlcab.cab…..i think is Pest Patrol? I went online for a scan but it kept making me download something. I deleted it anyway.

This is my new log. Thanks for helping me out.

O23 - Service: WAN Miniport (ATW) Service - America Online, Inc. - C:\WINDOWS\wanmpsvc.exe…..would you know what this is for?

I will give you some links just below this where you can look up and idendity anything in your log. I know this one is part of your aol internet connection service, but I will show you how to get the information, I type the .exe into (copy/paste really)
a http://www.google.com search line. = wanmpsvc.exe into Google, then search, returns lots of information but I trust WinTasksProcessLibrary here: http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas…brary/wanmpsvc/
That tells me this:
Description:
wanmpsvc.exe is a part of the America Online, Inc. Wan miniport (ATW) service. The AOL suite's connectity relies upon this file heavily, so if AOL is used, this should not be touched.

Here are links you can use to indentify about everything in a log. If you can't identify an item, chances are it is bad, but you still should seek expert help before removing something:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm

Since you have a clean log, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to keep you clean and safe online:
