Hi and welcome to the forum. :D

Step # 1

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

Please download and run Spybot & AdAware SE Then follow the instructions in the link below to run.

REBOOT

Step # 3

Then do a virus scan here >>> Trend Micro

Reboot and post a new HiJackThis log. Also he is way behind in his updates for IE & XP but we can deal with that after the log is clean.

I've run Ad-Aware, Spybot, and the online version you suggested. I've posted the results of my latest HJT log below. Also, I noticed on the final scan, it was unable to delete/clean one file called C:WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/vbsys2.dll because it was still in use. Thank you again for all your help!

Also, in reading a few of the other posts, I've noticed a programed called Killbox. Is that something I should also run. Thanks again in advance for your help and assistance!

Killbox is a special tool and only should be used on the aadvise of a helper as it will completely wipe a file from your system and therefore is dangerous if used incorrectly.

Please boot to safe mode (tap f8 while bios loads) then scan with hijackthis and put a check beside these lines and choose FIX.

Then while still in safe mode delete this file if present.

Siggyx - thanks for all your help. Computer life is looking good and the machine is actually running close to how it once was. I've completed everything you've suggested and posted the hijack output below. I did have one error come up in hijack as I was fixing. I wasn't able to copy it, but my system appears to be running normally. I am going to get a free firewall while awaiting any other thoughts you have. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Looks good :D :thumbup: How is it running.

You need to update both Windows XP and Internet Explorere as they are both well behind in updates. They are both missing Service Pack 1 which is leaving you open to all kinds of problems.

Service Pack 1 for XP

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.
