ie6 will work a few times and then hang and get page not found. If I restart in dos mode and delete /temporary internet files/content.ie5/index.dat it will work a few times and then hang again. Here is my hijact this log:

Well Luke, I do not see any antivirus software running on this computer. Here are three free ones, I suggest the first one, I would pick one and get it installed were I you:
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/index.c…582BE49AF2FC446

I likewise do not see a firewall, if this is the case, here are two free ones, I suggest the first one, I would get a firewall in place were I you:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/comp…reeDownload.jsp
http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm

Scan with HijackThis and put a check in front of each of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

Delete all cookies, Temp and Temp Internet Files, empty the recycle bin and restart the computer.

Luke, hopefully you have an Antivirus program and a Firewall running by now. Here are two programs I suggest you download, update, configure and run. If Spybot gives you DSO Exploit notifications, ignore them please.

Thanks again for your help.
Hello Luke, You did a good job sir, your log is clean and you now have some protection from viruses/trojans, and ZoneAlam will watch your back (ports) Make sure you review the tutorial and "Help" for ZA as it takes a little understanding to get it working correctly. Once you learn what to allow access, ZA will protect you quietly and you won't know it is running until it asks for the occaisional update. AVG needs to be updated on a regular basis or it can't protect you from new malware.

Now that you are clean, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
