What have you done so far?

You didn't answer this.

I don't see any malware in the system but you have a lot of unnecessary processes running.

You can check them at this link, just look for the exe file name.

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas…processlibrary/

Then you can decide whether you want it or not based on the info about it.
You can always restore them if you want, HJT has that ability.

Example:

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE<—look for this .exe file

These are all considered as not needed at start-up:

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ehTray] C:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehtray.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DVDSentry] C:\WINDOWS\System32\DSentry.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DwlClient] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Dell\EUSW\Support.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - Global Startup: America Online 9.0 Tray Icon.lnk = C:\Program Files\America Online 9.0\aoltray.exe

These are all users choice - you decide

O2 - BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIModeChange] Ati2mdxx.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIPTA] C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IntelMeM] C:\Program Files\Intel\Modem Event Monitor\IntelMEM.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCAgentExe] c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCUpdateExe] C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcupdate.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MPSExe] c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\mps\mscifapp.exe /embedding

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdateManager] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic\Update Manager\sgtray.exe" /r

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

You can also download and install this program ( System Security Suite 1.04) to delete all the temp files on the system: (check all the boxes)

When's the last time you ran scandisk and defrag?

Let me know - MrC
Hi,

First of all thank you for your help!, secondly I apologize for not responding to this message sooner. This was mainly due to business travel and the reason I think my computer was running slow. Shortly after I posted this message, I recieved a warning that I had a fan failure (fan had actually stopped running), and after habving it repaired my computer was running as normal. If you don't mind I would like to repost my hijack this, because I'm still interested in getting rid of unecessary programs.
