Tom, I seem to be unable to clear my pc from trojans. I'm using AVG which keep detecting various problems. I have repeatedly vaulted viruses and fixed stuff with Spybot S&D, but within days it all seems to return. Currently I have System Restore dissabled. Would you look at this Hijack this log and give me advice. Thanks.

Hello meschaman . Welcome to the TC.

You need to update your version of HijackThis. Open HJT> Config> Misc Tools> Check for update online. If that doesn't work, download it from my signature and remove the hijackThis.exe you have now.

Next:

You need to update both Windows XP and Internet Explorere as they are both well behind in updates. They are both missing Service Pack 1 which is leaving you open to all kinds of problems.

I DO NOT suggest you go to Service Pack 2, at this time.

Service Pack 1 for XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa…p1/default.mspx

Service Pack 1 for Internet Explorer.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downlo…p1/default.mspx

Install then Reboot

"copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Tom, I updated as you suggested. Here's a new log. Hope you can help. I am still finding Fabadd repeatedly after cleaning with AVG.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Delete These files
C:\WINDOWS\System32\twink64.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\angelex.exe

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
I followed the instructions in the previous post. However I was unable to locate C:\Documents and settings\(every user)\Local settings\Temp folder. I browsed the entire C drive and ran a search wit no results, so I'm assuming it does not exist at this point. Everything else went exactly as instructed. Here's the latest HT log

OK, let's get rid of it!

First close all browser windows, then copy the text inside the Blue box to Notepad, and save in a location of your choice as Fix.reg (make sure you save as type: 'all files')

Doubleclick Fix.reg, and answer yes when prompted to add its contents to the Registry. (You need to get that prompt! )
Restart your computer, and you should be fine!

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I've got my fingers crossed. I did as you instructed and the new log does not have the 015 listed! The pc seems to opperating normally, although it always has, other than AVG constantly detecting new infected files. Here's the latest log. I hope for your sake we're in the clear. I sure appreciate all the help, and I'm sure you're ready to be done with this. THANKS
