8. If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window

9. Save the log file when it asks and then click ‘finish’

10. REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found

Scanning in Spybot Search and Destroy:

1. Downloaded and Install Spybot S&D, accepting the Default Settings

2. In the Menu Bar at the top of the Spybot window you will see 'Mode'. Make certain that 'default mode' has a check mark beside it.

3. Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D

4. Click the button to ‘Search for Updates’ then download and install the Updates.

5. Next click the button ‘Check for Problems’

6. When Spybot is complete, it will be showing ‘RED’ entries bold 'Black' entries and ‘GREEN’ entries in the window

7. Make certain there is a check mark beside all of the RED entries ONLY.

8. Choose ‘Fix Selected Problems’ and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.

9.REBOOT to complete the scan and clear memory.

Finally after running both Spybot SD and Ad-Aware SE, RESCAN with HijackThis and POST your logfile in the same thread using ‘Add Reply’.
Wow! I wasn't expecting such a quick response. I did as you advised. Only Messenger3 appeared in the Add/Remove programs. Ad-Aware and Spybot each removed several items. Here is the latest log file after rebooting …

Thanks …

Little Eagle,

I followed your instructions as best I could, however …

- Unable to remove "Web Tools by Hotbar" and "Outlook Tools by Hotbar" from Add/Remove Programs.

- Do not see NewDotNet in Add/Remove program dialog.

- The C:\WINDOWS\system32\w?wexec.exe is wowexec.exe: Microsoft's 16-Bit application launcher for legacy programs in XP (Windows On Windows EXECution).

- C:\Documents and Settings\Danny\Application Data not available in safe mode. However eetu.pf is available in C:\Windows\prefetch. Should I delete C:\windows\prefetch\eetu.pf?

- R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.yruikryhkrabuapfxypkzxz.uk/7xOy…zyvnXiw6is.html not visible in scan performed during safe mode.

Everything else deleted as advised. There are currently no obvious symptoms but I suppose there must be problems lurking. Here is my most recent log …

Spybot S&D lets you kill the 04's, the startups. Start Spybot click mode at the top left,
make sure that advanced mode is checked. Then click on tools on the lower left.
Then system startup, to the right is a double arrow bar click it to expand.
Now clicking on a value you will get a description of the command line. Removing the green
check mark will stop the startup, should you decide that you need or want it back just
replace the check mark. Restarting your PC will complete the change.
Remove the check marks from the ones listed below.

Little Eagle,

Followed your instructions, although I was not sure what this line meant in your instructions:
{optional fix} {not necessary and resource hog} {random and normally malware, still unknown}

However, LOP blue search bar has somehow re-installed itself and appears at the bottom of my screen when launching IE. I cannot close it either (red 'X' in top right corner does nothing) and the bar occupies my desktop until I log off from my windows user account.

Here is the most recent log …

Little Eagle, I followed your last instruction. Also, I reran the toolbar_uninstall program, land then installed Spyblaster and AVG. I wanted to wait a few days to see if the browser bar would re-install (as it has in the past), but it appears to be clean. :) Many thanks for all your help. I appreciate the time you took to help me. I learned quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully I can learn some more and give something back to the Tom Coyote community. See you around the boards.
