Perhaps I should elaborate. There are two problems. One My browser gets redirected to a page intitled about blank. This will usually come with three maybe four pop ups. Most of the time this happens when I try to check my E-mails, but it happens at random sometimes it seem. The other problem is an overload of popups when I close sbc yahoo browser. Sometimes over 50 pop ups will nail me and my taskbar will dissapear and sometimews reapear. I use nortons antivirus and add aware add watch. I'm not sure what else you need to know to help me, but if possible do tell me quickly. Anything you can tell me that will help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Amebeo

Hello Amebeo , welcome to the TC.

This is what I suggest you do.

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Go here and run online scans (all), allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.3 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.05 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

So far so good except for one thing. When I tried to go to trendmicro Housecall, before I got to scan, my browser encountered an error and had to close, so I couldn't do that one. As for my computer I haven't really had any problems off line to speak of other than my cd rom isn't working but I'm ure that's unrelated. On line I think the panda scan might have eliminated the browser highjak or eight of them anyway. The only other prob I have on line is when my wife tries to play card games on line on yahoo games it wont let her but I think that may be a firewall issue. Any way that's about all and I didn't do my hijack this scan so I'm gonna have to go do that now Thanks for all your help. It is very much appreciated.

I suggest you do this:

Use Add/Remove and remove
WildTangent

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

ALL 016's. They'll come back if needed,

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Search for and delete these files if listed:

navmgrd.exe
wkssvr.exe

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY USER LISTED)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Please disable Ad-Watch until the fix is over. Use ALT/CTRL/DEL and end the process.

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

Hi again.

OK... So here is my new log. Computer still did not find wkssvr.exe. As for njofc.dll nortons picked it up in a scan along with ipin3.dll and was unable to delete either, so I did a search and deleted both. I think I'm about to lose power because of a storm in Indiana in mid January? Strange as it may sound and as weak as the storm is my lights flickered so I'm just gonna post this before I lose power.

Use: ALT/CTRL/DEL and end the process for Ad-Watch.exe. It'll come back after restart

I suggest you do this:

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D48D1486-D29E-471E-A9DF-278173555CFE} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\abj.dll

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] navmgrd.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Updates] wkssvr.exe

O18 - Filter: text/html - {BC13C3D3-CF75-40B0-A24C-65CA3142A906} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\abj.dll

O18 - Filter: text/plain - {BC13C3D3-CF75-40B0-A24C-65CA3142A906} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\abj.dll

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Search for these and delete:
navmgrd.exe
wkssvr.exe

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

I did a search fo both navmgrd.exe and wkssvr.exe and neither were found. I did a search for all .exe files in alphabetical order and they were not there. I did a search for any file containing navmgrd or wkssvr and neither were found.

They're still showing in the log. Did you reboot? Did you do this? Double-click My Computer. Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options. Click the View tab. Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types." Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders." Clear "Hide protected operating system files." Click Apply, and then click OK.
