My nephew was here for the holidays and my PC is coming up with websites that I've never been to. I ran SpyBot and Adware Away and they are showing up with a Notify DLL Hijacker something with DeleteDLL.bat file , and when I log in I recieve a message that tbevtn.dll missing. On top of all this my Recycle bin is showing empty, when there are 76 items in it(when I try to empty the Recycle Bin it asks if i want to delete 76 items).. I hope you can help me out.

Below is the log from HijackThis:

Hello balco, welcome to the TC.

Is this the whole log?

This should fix the recycle bin issue:

go to Start>Run, and type in: cmd
Select: OK
At the cmd prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each:

cd\
attrib -h -s c:\recycler
del c:\recycler

Create a blank NotePad file again, and delete it. Do you now get asked if you want to send the file to the Recycle Bin, and then the file shows up in the RB? If that is the case, you‘re good!

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Thanks LDTate that fixed my Recycle Bin Problem. I rebooted my PC and when I logged in I recieved the following 2 error screens:

"An exception ocurred while trying to run ""C:\windows\system32\bcowsewn.dll", Umonitor" I only had 1 option which was OK. I also recieved a RUNDLL error "error loading C:\progra~1\IEMENU~1\tbextn.dll" I only had one option on this one too which was OK.

Here is a new HijackThis log as requested:

Open Spybot S&D, click Mode>Advanced>Tools>Resident and remove the check from the Tea Timer box. You can reinstate it later but we don't want it interfering with what we need to do. Reboot when done.

Next:

I suggest you do this:

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these.

Please download Vx2 Finder and safe it to its own folder. http://downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder(126).exe
Run VX2Finder(126).exe
Select: Click to Find VX2.Betterinternet
When the scan is done, select the Make Log
Copy the log and post it.

It runs for a minute, and produces a log
Please copy and paste the log on your next response.

Also, download KillBox.zip from the link below.

Do not run it yet.

Please look in your sytem32 folder and let me know if the below file is preset.

C:\Windows\system32\guard.tmp

Post all the logs and DO NOT REBOOT or Shutdown please.
I enabled the viewing of Hidden Files and Folders.
I download Vx2 Finder and saved it to its own folder. I then ran VX2Finder(126).exe . I clicked on Find VX2.Betterinternet . The scan ran, then I selected Make Log , but I couldn't locate any log. There is a Hosts Log button, do I run that?
I then downloaded Find_It.zip into its own folder and uzipped it there. Then I opened the folder and double clicked on Find.bat (File with a gear symbol) and again no log that I could locate. All I got was a quick DOS screen telling me to ignore any file not found message .
I then downloaded KillBox.zip into its own folder, but did not unzip or run it per your instructions.
Finally I did locate the guard.tmp in C:\Windows\system32\

I did not reboot or shutdown my system…

What am I doing wrong that I can't get the 2 log files?

I clicked on Find VX2.Betterinternet . The scan ran, then I selected Make Log , but I couldn't locate any log. There is a Hosts Log button, do I run that?

When you select make log, it should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the contents of that.

double clicked on Find.bat (File with a gear symbol) and again no log that I could locate. All I got was a quick DOS screen telling me to ignore any file not found message .

When you double click on the Find.bat, it should also open a Notepad file. Copy and paste the contents of that also.
Hi there,

When I click to find VX2.betterinternet this is what I get in the scan screen:

Files Found—

Additional Files—

Keys Under Notify—
crypt32chain
cryptnet
cscdll
Reinstall
ScCertProp
Schedule
sclgntfy
SensLogn
termsrv
wlballoon

Guardian Key— is called:

User Agent String—
{5D3CF9C9-8037-4D4E-A478-AB76FA4E8DBE}

When I select make log it doesn't open up notepad, is there a setting I don't have set to bring up notepad?

As for the Find.bat I double click it and all that appears momentarily is a DOS screen that says:

Please disregard any "File Not Found" messages, they are a normal part of the search process.
Are these the logs you were looking for ?

I found these logs in a folder called Find-It in the root of C:\
