My computer is a mess. Before I found your site, I found a winctrlad and winctrladalt file that I identified as adware and then deleted. Still having
many problems. Also deleted a mediatickets folder (i think?). anyway, any
help would be greatly appreciated. Here's my log:

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\TD_0001.DIR\HIJACKTHIS.EXE

Hello march2march, welcome to the forum. Please don't delete anything else.

Important: Do this before any fix.

Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

The reason we do this is Hijackthis creates backup files just in case you'd need to restore one and we'll be cleaning out the temp files.

Go HERE and get yourself a FREE Anti_Virus Program. After you install and run the scan

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Thanks for the fast reply. I copied the HJT file into a new folder on the desktop as instructed. I have Norton Anti-Virus installed on my computer, but I noticed it was not on the log as running. Should i still install the anti-virus software you recommended?
Yes, you can always remove Grisoft later. As long as both aren't running.

Then do this:

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.3 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.05 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Attempted to install avg70free anti-virus software - received this message: Local machine: installation failed Initialization: Error: Checking of state of the item registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (current user) failed. The configuration registry database is corrupt. (1009) Ran CWShredder-my system was completely clean. Ran Spybot - 170 problems found - 169 fixed - 1 couldn't be fixed message said could be in memory or use and may be fixed on next start up. Ran Ad-Aware - had to cancel out of scan because i had larger hard drive installed and the old drive was moved to "d" which still has the original files on it. When I try to access it, i get a message saying the drive has not been formatted, so i have just been ignoring it for now. When I tried to run the Ad-aware program, it scanned c and then started on d and then stopped, so i had to cancel out of the scan and didn't receive any report. i couldn't figure out how to have it just scan the c drive. That's everything I've done so far. Have not emptied recycle bin or restarted the computer. Also, the last couple of times i tried to empty the recycle bin, i get this message: Cannot removed folder D2d: the drive could not find the sector requested. this doesn't show in the recycle folder contents, but i get this message everytime I empty the bin. also, the icon never changes from full to empty. Also, everytime i turn my computer off or reboot, when I go back online, it will freeze up and i have to keep rebooting (sometimes 10 or more times) before I finally am able to navigate around. The point at which is locks up seems random but each time I reboot, it seems that I can get further than the last time. I really don't know how else to describe it, but sometimes I can get online using different paths like aim or windows update. Because of this problem, I have been leaving the computer on all the time, because I'm afraid that if I shut it down, i'll have the same problem. Like I said everything's a mess. Thanks for your help and waiting for further instructions.
ok, ran ad-aware on only c drive and removed 1 file. Here's the new log.
I haven't rebooted yet though.
