Please insure that all files are visable, tutorial here >>> http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

2/
Please download Vx2 Finder and safe it to its own folder. http://downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder(126).exe
Run VX2Finder(126).exe
Select: Click to Find VX2.Betterinternet
When the scan is done, select the Make Log
Copy the log and post it.

3/
Download Find_It.zip:

http://computercops.biz/zx/Zupe/Find%20It%20NT-2K-XP.zip

Unzip its contents to its own folder
Open the folder and double click on Find.bat (File with a gear symbol)
Ignore any File not found messages
It runs for a minute, and produces a log
Please copy and paste the log on your next response.

4/
Please look in your sytem32 folder and let me know if the below file is present.
C:/Windoews/system32/guard.tmp

5/
Download the DllCompare tool from : http://www.atribune.org/downloads/DllCompare.exe

Start Program and Click the Run Locate.com and wait a few seconds til the scan says complete.(default settings usually are sufficient)

Click the Compare button to start the sorting process.

Files in the upper portion have been verified to "exist" as where Files in the bottom section have some form of problem being accessed.
There will be only minimal, if any files listed there… once that Compare scan is complete,
and you find you have a few files listed in the lower box.

After that if you are left with files that are still not found, click the Make a Log of what was found button, and post that log .

6/
Also, download KillBox.zip from the link below.
http://www.subratam.org/?page=removal
Place it in a folder on your Desktop.
Do not run it yet.

7/
Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. Since Temporary folders are emptied now and then (the files are DELETED), it would not be a good idea to have your backups there. Those backups would be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.
2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.
3. Close ALL windows except HJT
4. SCAN with HJT

So post the new hijackthis-log, the Vx2 Finder log, the Find_It log and the DLLCompare-log in this thread using 'Add Reply'

Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor. "Sypware" file used surreptitiously monitor one's actions. It is not a sinister one,

-Use the: 'Check for Updates Now' option and download the latest reference files
-Use the Start button, and on the next window, select: Perform Full System Scan
-Press Next, and let Ad-aware scan the hard drive
-When finished, right-click the window with the entries, choose: Select All from the menu, and click Next.
-Once AdAware has removed the entries, close the program
Restart the computer

Also, check the Recycle Bin to see if it works properly. A side effect of VX2 is to sometimes damage the Recycle Bin operation.
Create an blank Notepad file on the Desktop: right click the Desktop, select New>Text Document
Right click the text document and delete it.
When a file is deleted, it should ask if you want to send it to Recycle Bin.
Does it ask if you want to send the file to the Recycle Bin, or, does the file just get deleted?
Post back what it does.

When done with all of the above, close all windows and browsers, run HijackThis, Scan, post a new HijackThis log, and a new Find_It log.

If you encounter any problems with the steps above, please describe them.

let me know if you registered with People OnPage , its on your pc and it is seen as a bad one, but dont do anything for the moment just let me know.
Hi…first of all…thanks for all of your help.

Under 'Go to the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs feature, I did not find
AM Server, 'SysAi', CtxPls, EliteBar, or SearchMiracle listed nor did I find them when I ran a systems search.

Also, I manually deleted C:\windows\system32\kalvbtn32.exe, C:\Windows\system32\dinina.exe, C:\windows\system32\dmakadp.exe, and C:\program files\CxtPls.

When I ran today's HijackThis scan and log, I see that a dinina.exe file and a dmakadp.exe file show up under O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cwt7RPGpj] dinina.exe and
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [t72X3Fi] dmakadp.exe.

Also, when I use the Recycle Bin now, it does not prompt me if I want to send a notepad file to the Recycle Bin…it just deletes it. When I open or explore the Recycle Bin, it appears as being empty after I have deleted a file. I have checked the settings and it is set to prompt me when deleting.

I did not register for PeopleOnPage. When I ran the Adaware scan, it showed up and was removed. Hopefully it is gone.

Here is my latest HijackThis log followed by the Find_It log:

A2 squared is an onboard trojan scanner that is installed much like spybot/ad-aware but handles trojans. Nice to add to your armor if you wish.
Download and install A2 squared free Trojan scanner
Run and activate your free version with A squared and then select
Scan your computer for malware infections .
Then select any/all drives.
Finally Scan selected folders.

Post a fresh hijackthis log and let me know if you still get those poups
Thanks for your quick response.

Question: After running NortonAnti-Virus, it showed that I had Bargain Buddy adware that AdAware failed to pick up. It also showed that SearchMiracle was present. These are compressed files that are hidden within system32 files. My question is that since Norton was unable to delete these files, can I copy and paste them into Killbox to remove them instead of booting up into dos?
I appreciate your input on this. Thanks again.

Just to let you know, I followed Symantec's instructions last night and deleted the Bargain Buddy file folders to my recycle bin (which I have not emptied yet). All my other programs seem to be operating fine and I am not being plagued by constant popups.

Thanks again for all of your help. Let me know if you feel it is okay to delete the Bargain Buddy file folders from my recycle bin. They are titled:

javex.vxd
psis80ex.ax
mac80ex.idf
netut80ex.vxd
the log looks clean now
and you can delete the files

For not receiving the warning messages for deleting items , you can use the below to fix your recyclebin :

Go to a Command Prompt (Start->Run, type "Cmd" without quotes and hit Ok)

At the prompt, type the following:

cd\ [hit enter]
cd Recycler [Enter]
attrib -h info*.* [Enter]
Del info*.* [enter]

Assuming one or more files were deleted, reboot, then test if it's fixed.

If not, go back to a command prompt and type:

cd\ [hit enter]
attrib -h -s c:\recycler [Enter]
del c:\recycler [enter]

Reboot.

Let me know if that worked.

So how did I get infected in the first place….
Just wanted to say thank you for correcting all of my problems! Here's hoping that with all the anti-spyware and adware programs that I now have riding on my computer will continue to keep me safe. Thanks again for all of your help, Mike Schibi
