Please help me romove the pop ups that have taken over my browser. I have uninstalled everything that is obvious but I can't find the final problem. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

I spoke too soon. The pop ups have not gone away. I did a scan with SpyBot and Adaware and they keep coming up with the same bots even though I am only going to trusted sites (and of course the pop ups). It's all under control except for a pop up every time I try to do a search. Thanks for the help.

Please read through the ideas and free software listed below that will help to keep your computer clean.
Some of these you may already have installed or may have done already.

Install a firewall.ZoneAlarm FREE

Ensure that an Antivirus is updated weekly and running. You only need one.
AVG antivirus from Grisoft is a very good FREE antivirus program.

Make sure you have the latest critical updates from windows update.

SpywareBlaster will prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 known 'bad' sites into your IE restricted zone so that they cannot install malware on your PC.

Google toolbar has a very good built in popup blocker with a nice search bar. To provide privacy, select disable advanced features when installing.

Check your system for latest virus definitions with an online virus scan every week or two.
TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan

Check your system for latest trojan definitions with an Online trojan scan also every week or two.

And also see this link for additional security information.
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please consider using Firefox

Please read this
I have switched to Foxfire as reccomended, however, that is where I am getting all the pop ups. They are random and comming after a call to a site known to not have any pop ups generated. I used Google tool bar to block pop ups in IE but there seems to be no way to install it in Foxfire. IE is the default. This is making me nuts. Thanks Chuck
Guys,
I am going crazy!!

I have done everything requested including changing to Foxfire and I still have a pop up. It's the same site all the time and it happend almost every third or fourth search. It even pops up when I call this site and Foxfire does not block it. Foxfire does not seem to be able to block the site (or any site) either.

Any ideas? I'm ready to reformat!
Chuck
Thanks!

Can you reboot in safe mode and run another log from HJT.

and Foxfire does not block it. Foxfire does not seem to be able to block the site (or any site) either.

Firefox does not block pop ups.

If you use either Mozilla, Firefox or Opera, you are immune to all known browser hijackers.

You are immune for two reasons. First, most people use Internet Explorer, so most malicious code is custom built to exploit it. Second, Opera's and Mozilla's programmers take security very seriously and have made these browsers very secure. It is not possible to install software from a web site using these browsers without at least seeing a prompt of some sort asking permission.
Little Eagle,
Thanks for the help. What a pain this is. Below is the safe mode file.
Thanks
Chuck
