OK I found the problem with finding them. I was expanding through the folders w/o actually opening them. I have a short cut to My Computer in the start menu and was expanding them that way w/o clicking and openiing them.

When I did a search for the files windows showed them there. So when I physically opened the folders I saw them. I deleted every copy that windows found and emptied the recycle bin.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
OK, you want me to clear the restore points again? The computer has been running great w/o any popups. Spybot and adaware both came up clean today. I use AVG Free, however I did have a problem a while ago and got a virus even with it in place. The virus kept creating new icons in all my folders when I started up. I guess thats where those desktop.ini files came from. I had to re-install windows because of it. I guess when I installed my backup files those desktop.ini files were still there. I'm only using the XP firewall from SP2. I had problems with both McAfee and Zone Alarm conflicting with my broadband setup. When I uninstalled McAfee it seemd to rip out some needed system files too and I had to use regedit to delete some of the files. Right now I'm using an Ethernet connection directly to my cable modem. What sort of firewall should I use? Should I use a software and hardware configuration? Thanks for all your help, Ken

I'm only using the XP firewall from SP2.

That should be fine. Main thing is to have one.

OK, you want me to clear the restore points again?

That's up to you, but I always do it when I know it's clean. Some of the bad guys like to hide in the restore area after they get removed from the startup.

OK, I just wanted to clarify it with you first. I'm gonna do that.

I added those 3 other programs as well.
:D

Thanks again,
Ken
