Thanks in advance for your help…
Hello gringarlow and welcome to TomCoyote.

You have a Peper infection.

1. Please Download PeperFix.exe.

2. Reboot into Safe Mode (tap F8 during boot-up). Start the tool and click Find and Fix.

3. Reboot to finish removing what it found.

4. Again in Safe Mode. Run the tool a second time.

5. Reboot to finish removing the entries.

You are running Spyware Begone on your computer. This company uses aggressive advertising and false positives as a goad to purchase. You can read about it here. It is optional but I strongly recommend removing it with Add/Remove Programs.

Please download and install Adaware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy according to the following instructions. These are very good free malware scanners.

Scanning With Spybot S&D:

1. Downloaded and Install Spybot S&D then download and install the DSO Exploit Bug Fix, accepting the Default Settings.

2. In the Menu Bar at the top of the Spybot window you will see 'Mode'. Make certain that 'default mode' has a check mark beside it.

3. Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D.

4. Click the button to ‘Search for Updates’ then download and install the Updates.

5. Next click the button ‘Check for Problems’

6. When Spybot is complete, it will be showing ‘RED’ entries bold 'Black' entries and ‘GREEN’ entries in the window.

7. Make certain there is a check mark beside all of the RED entries ONLY.

8. Choose ‘Fix Selected Problems’ and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.

9.REBOOT to complete the scan and clear memory.

10. Do not enable Tea Timer until the log is clean as it will prevent the fix from working.

Scanning With Ad-Aware SE :

1. Download and Install Ad-Aware SE, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.

2.Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.

3. Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.

4. Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window.

1) In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
*Automatically save log-file
*Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
*Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

Under Definitions:
*Prompt to udate outdated definitions - set the number of days

2) Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green :

Under Driver, Folders & Files:
*Scan Within Archives

Under Select drives & folders to scan -
*choose all hard drives

Under Memory & Registry: all green
*Scan Active Processes
*Scan Registry
*Deep Scan Registry
*Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
*Scan my Hosts file

3) Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:

Under Shell Integration:
*Move deleted files to recycle bin

Under Logfile Detail Level: (all green)
*include addtional object information
*DESELECT - include negligible objects information
*include environment information

Under Alternate Data Streams:
*Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
*Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT

4) Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:

Under the ‘Scanning Engine’:
*Unload recognized processes during scanning
*Scan registry for all users instead of current user only

Under the ‘Cleaning Engine’:
*Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

Under the Log Files:
*Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
*Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
*Please do not check or make green: Include Module list in logfile

5. Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.

6. Click ‘Start’

*Choose:'Perform Full System Scan'
*DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.

7. Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected and clean automatically.

8. If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window.

9. Save the log file when it asks and then click ‘finish’.

10. REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found.

There is a new version of HijackThis available now. Please delete the version you have now and download Version 1.99 from the following link:
http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe
You can place it in the "hijackthis" folder you created on the desktop.

Scan with HijackThis 1.99 and post the new log as a reply to this thread.
I ran all of those items :
I didn't find Spyware Begone in the Add/Remove Programs.
I had downloaded Ad-Aware S&D and ran it prior to getting your reply.
Here is the Hijack this log

Thanks again
You have a peper infection that we need to remove

http://www.memorywatcher.com/uninst.exe

When you run the uninstaller, you MUST have an internet connection active for it to work

This Peper removal tool only works if run twice. To complete each stage of the Peper removal you need to REBOOT to clear the peper infection each time you run the tool, or the infection will remain.

Reboot normally and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.
Okay,
I think I ran PeperFix correctly.
When I'm rebooting and hit F8, I get a screen that lets me either start up normally or hit 8 again. I hit F8 a second time to get the screen with several options. I chose SAFE MODE. There is also SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
and other choices.
Here is the HIJACK THIS LOG for today

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

You can fix this with HJT, but you will also need to set it not to load in RealPlayer itself to keep it from resetting itself: (1) Start RealOne Player (2) Tools -> Preferences (3) Automatic services in the Categories pane (4) Uncheck all options and then OK.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

These are ActiveX files that will reload if and when they are needed.

You may need to enable show all files to find them.

* Double-click My Computer.
* Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
* Click the View tab.
* Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
* Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
* Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot normally and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.
So far this is working real well. The time to start up is noticeably less.
I was unable to find these items
C:\PROGRA~1\SYSTEM~1\soap.exe min <<<
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi <<< whole folder
c:\freescan <<< whole folder
I rebooted twice in safe mode, looked twice, ran a search, but they never showed up.
The folder IESERV was found and deleted.

Here is the latest HIJACK THIS:

So far this is working real well. The time to start up is noticeably less.
I was unable to find these items
C:\PROGRA~1\SYSTEM~1\soap.exe min <<<
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi <<< whole folder
c:\freescan <<< whole folder

For the first two items the path should be similiar to the following:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYSTEM 32\soap.exe <<< file only
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALLUSERS\APPLICATION DATA\Pribi <<< whole folder

If you still can not find them, don't worry about it.

Your new log is clean.

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files (Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete Files), be sure to also select delete all offline content.
Empty the Recycle Bin.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the Performance tab, click File System, or press ALT+F.
3. On the Troubleshooting tab, put a check mark in the 'Turn Off System Restore' check box.
4. Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 3, this time clearing the box beside 'Turn Off System Restore'

Now that everything is fixed, I suggest that you get these programs:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks many bad things from installing on your computer.
SpywareGuard - Real-time protection from spyware installation attempts
ie-spyad - Puts over 8,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites.

Update these regularly.
