Hi jwl459, welcome to Tom Coyote forum :wavey:

Before we run any scans, please click on Start > Run and type CLEANMGR. Click OK and when presented with a list of options, check the following boxes: Temporary Internet Files, Temporary Files, Recycle Bin. This will speed up the scans that we need to run.

1. Please Download and Install Ad-Aware SE, keeping the default options.
2. Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE
3. Click on the globe icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list.
4. Once the update is finished click on the Gear icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window. Change only the following settings.

4a) Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green :

Under Drives, Folders & Files:
*Scan Within Archives
Under Select drives & folders to scan: 
*choose all hard drives

4b) Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:

Under Shell Integration:
*Move deleted files to recycle bin

Under Logfile Detail Level:
*include additional object information
*DESELECT include negligible objects information
*include environment information

Under Alternate Data Streams:
*Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
*Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT


5. Click on Proceed to save the settings.

6. Click Start

*Choose:'Perform Full System Scan'
*DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as these are not considered to be a threat.

7. Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected. This may take some time!
8. When the scan is complete, click on Next to see the results. If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will see a list of what it found
9. Right-click on any of the items and choose 'Select all objects' and then click 'Next', then ‘OK’
10. REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found.


You have an older copy of HijackThis, so please download the latest version here

Now open My Computer, then C:\. In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT". Now you have C:\HJT folder. Unzip HijackThis into C:\HJT folder.

Run HijackThis and reply to this thread with a new scan. Don't fix anything yet!
