Hello steve1147 . Welcome to the TC. You need to update your version of HijackThis. Open HJT> Config> Misc Tools> Check for update online. If that doesn't work, download it from my signature and remove the hijackThis.exe you have now. Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread..
Just bought this used computer for my kids room and have cleaned-off a lot of stuff already, and YOU GUYS at Tom Coyote have saved my butt several times.
What's left here I don't understand some of it, your expert advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks again, Steve Weible, Valles Mines, Missouri

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

You need to update both Windows XP and Internet Explorere as they are both well behind in updates. They are both missing Service Pack 1 which is leaving you open to all kinds of problems.

I DO NOT suggest you go to Service Pack 2, at this time.

Service Pack 1 for XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa…p1/default.mspx

Service Pack 1 for Internet Explorer.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downlo…p1/default.mspx

Install then Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Doesn't look like your Windows update worked. You might want to disable RECGUARD, Alt/Ctrl/Del and end process for it. Then try the upgade again. After that: Empty Recycle Bin. Restart your computer. Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
