Download LSPfix here:

http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe

Save it to its own folder

To run it be sure you are NOT connected to the Internet.

Launch the application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.

Check all instances of winlspak.dll
(and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane.
Then click Finish.

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html

REBOOT

Please download and run Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware. Then follow the instructions in the links below to run.

Spybot Tutorial

AdAware Tutorial

Please do an online scan,

Trend Micro http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean".

Reboot and post a new HiJackThis log. You need an updated version of hijackthis that you can get here >>> http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
It didn't work
What about this:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kalvsys] C:\windows\system32\kalvfbs32.exe
Somewhere I read that the line should read : "C:\windows\system32.exe" and that I should get rid of the "kalvbs32", but I didn't know how to do that and have since lost track of the reference…And why is "[kalvsys]" inserted between "Run" and "C:\" ???
Also, I dumped all the R1 HKCU with the www.addy "searchmiracle.com". That at least got rid of a 'jacked toolbar, etc.
Thanks

We will get to the clean up now. The main issue was the LSP fix that had to be done first. Cleaning of malware very rarely takes only one step :rant2:

Please turn teatimer off as it can block fixes tutorial here >>> http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

Please boot to safe mode (tap f8 while bios loads) then scan with hijackthis and put a check beside these lines and choose FIX.

Then while still in asfe mode delete this file

C:\windows\system32\kalvfbs32.exe<<
Then reboot and post a new log.
Dear Siggyx,
Get a load of my beautiful new logfile!! By George, I think we've got it!!
If this whole mess had not turned me into a mean old b  ch, I'd set my cap for you! :P I'd sing you soothing melodies, feed you mangoes, macadamias, and Mai-Tai's!! I'd rub your feet with scented coconut oil and shade you with palm fronds. I feel like dancing in the street! Whoopeeeee!!!!!!!!!! :D
Instead, I'll just say thank you sooooooo very much. And I'll happily send a donation to keep this wonderful site on-line. I was ready to toss this machine out the window. You saved it, saved my sanity, saved my business, earned a star in your crown!!
Maybe 3!
Thanks mucho, mucho!
Barbara

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:

Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
